Have you ever worked towards a goal for 16 years?
Back in 2010, I joined a new gym and told a staff member that my ultimate fitness goal was to do a chin-up.
Today, for the first time in my life, I did one... and then I immediately did two more.
This feat felt impossible for so long. I didn't do it alone. I achieved my goal under the guidance of three health coaches, two personal trainers, and a nutritionist.
Special shout-outs to PJ Palacpac and Josh Boaventura for being my biggest cheerleaders. I've been training with them for several years and I couldn't be more grateful for their time, expertise, and unwavering support.
Always go for your goals, even if it takes decades. You're stronger than you think.

September 14, 1996
Thirty years ago today, I saw my favourite band perform for the first time at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto.
My best friend and I waited in line at 5am outside Sunrise Records in Oakville to buy paper tickets. She's still my best friend today (and I still have my ticket!).
I bawled my eyes out through the entire concert. You could say it had an effect on me.
I've since seen Billy Corgan perform an additional 49 times, with two more shows coming up next month. Some things never change.
Love what you love with reckless abandon.

It's with a heavy heart that I announce the departure of my beloved Marla Singer.
I had Marla for exactly 16 years—I got her in September of 2010, when she was just three months old, taking her in on a "trial basis" to see if she got along well with my other cat, Dave Grohl.
I named her after the female lead in my favourite movie, Fight Club. She was independent and feisty, living up to her namesake.
The highlight of Marla's day was when she would greet my clients at the door of my Parkdale home massage studio, ready to give and receive affection (and bellow strongly held opinions). How lucky was she to make so many friends?
Thank you to every one of you for loving her, if even for a brief moment.
Thank you to Dr. Askari and the wonderful team at . They've been her medical team since I moved to the neighbourhood in 2017 and they've taken such good care of her in these last few months as her health declined.
As for me, I'll be ok. Grief is the price we pay for love, and it's a price I'll gladly pay every day in exchange for 16 years of loving her.
Hug someone you love today (pets included).
