Big upgrade for our Insulation Team! πŸš›

Our new Canadian-made insulation blowing machine is officially on the road, helping us complete attic insulation projects more efficiently while maintaining the high-quality workmanship our clients expect.

Investing in better equipment means investing in better service, safer worksites, and more opportunities for our team to build valuable skills.

Here's to the next chapter of keeping homes warmer, more energy-efficient, and built to last.

The Skills Canada National Competition is a great opportunity to explore the many career pathways available in the skilled trades. One of our trainees had the chance to attend the event, where she explored different trades, experienced hands-on activities, and connected with industry professionals. πŸ”¨

From interactive exhibits and hands-on activities to exciting trade competitions, the event highlighted the talent, innovation, and craftsmanship that make the skilled trades such a rewarding field.

Opportunities like these give our trainees the chance to build connections, broaden their understanding of the industry, and gain valuable insight into careers in the skilled trades. Thank you to Skills Canada for hosting such a valuable event! πŸ‘

Employer Myth vs. Reality #1 πŸ‘·πŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸ—οΈ

❌ Myth: Hiring entry-level workers means starting from zero.

βœ… Reality: Building Up graduates don't arrive without preparation.

Over 16 weeks of paid pre-apprenticeship training, participants develop the foundational skills employers expect before stepping onto a job site. They gain hands-on experience, industry certifications, and a clear understanding of what it takes to succeed in construction.

Before connecting with employers, our graduates have practiced:
πŸ”¨ Following safety procedures
πŸ‘· Working as part of a crew
πŸ“‹ Taking direction and applying feedback
πŸ› οΈ Using basic tools and equipment
πŸ—οΈ Understanding jobsite expectations

They're still at the beginning of their careers, but they're ready to contribute, learn, and grow with the right employer.

At Building Up, we help bridge the gap between untapped talent and meaningful employment in the skilled trades.

Not the prettiest part of the job, but definitely one of the most importantπŸ‘·β€β™‚οΈ

Behind every comfortable, energy-efficient home are countless details that come together to make a lasting difference. Insulation is one of those details, quietly doing its job season after season to help homes perform better.

Looking to bring more community benefit into construction and retrofit projects? This is a resource worth checking out.

The Atmospheric Fund recently launched its Social Contracting Guide, prepared by Buy Social Canada (.social.canada) to help project owners, general contractors and organizations better understand how to build social value into procurement.

The guide offers practical tools, templates and examples for organizations looking to connect construction and retrofit work with broader community impact. Building Up is proud to be highlighted as part of this work and grateful to TAF and Buy Social Canada for helping make social contracting more accessible, actionable and achievable.

Retrofit projects can do more than improve buildings. With the right approach, they can also create training, employment and career pathways for people facing barriers to opportunity.

🏠 Building more than a structure, we're building hope.

We're proud to partner with Tiny Tiny Homes to help build a safe, dignified emergency shelter for someone experiencing homelessness. Tiny Tiny Homes is a Toronto-based charity creating mobile emergency shelters that provide warmth, safety, and dignity to people who would otherwise be sleeping outside.

This particular home hasn't found its future resident yet, but every nail, every panel, and every hour of work brings us one step closer to changing someone's life.

Pictured here are Davandrew, Jim, and Emily, hard at work turning compassion into action. πŸ’™πŸ”¨

Together, we're proving that when communities come together, we can build more than homesβ€”we can build hope.
