β οΈ PADDLER ALERT: Environment Canada Air Advisory- Wildfire Smoke β οΈ
Environment Canada has issued an air quality advisory for the Metro Vancouver region. Smoke is causing or expected to cause poor air quality and reduced visibility. At this time, the conditions on the docks are still reasonable as the smoke is not as bad, but we will provide updates as they are available.
If you would like to reschedule your paddling sessions today, please email [email protected] for assistance.
Cleaner air and cooling shelters are also being made available through the City of Vancouver at nearby libraries, community centres, and public spaces. Seek medical help if you experience severe symptoms such as wheezing, chest pain, trouble breathing or severe cough. Call 911 in emergencies.
Check the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) often throughout the day because conditions can change quickly. See airmap.ca or gov.bc.ca/airqualitymap. Visit airhealth.ca for information on how to reduce your health risk and your personal contribution to pollution levels, as well as for current and forecast AQHI values.
