Mr Coco had a visit at Oaklands Veterinary Hospital today. This lovely senior is heading to his new foster to adopt home so he’s had a full work up and he’s ready to go. So many seniors end up in shelters when their owners pass away or can’t afford the vet care. It’s so important to make arrangements for your pet in your will so you know they will be cared for. coco comes to us from our friends at Friends of VSP Freedom Dog Program who pulled him from the shelter. He’s a comical and fun little guy who has a lot of life left in him. For now a long nap is at the top of the list

beautiful Aurora is looking for her forever home. This girl is one of the most loving, calm, relaxed and earnest pups we have had come into care. She’s 2 years old and apparently a pyr mix but who knows? She’s around 75lbs and is fully vetted. She’s house trained and walks well on leash until she sees a squirrel lol. Truly a wonderful lovely girl.

Aurora loves other dogs and currently resides with 2 little dogs who she carefully plays with. She adores the water and loves to play chase with others. She’s impeccably well mannered having lived in a multiple dog household. Ideally her new family would take her on long walks and have a secure fenced property that she could roam on. She does have a prey drive so likely not good with cats/rabbits etc. to be fair I haven’t tested her but suspect she would give chase.

At home she is undemanding and gentle. Loves a cuddle and couch time.

Available for adoption. Miss Clover. Clover is a marvellous mix who is around a year old and weighs around 25lbs. She’s fully vetted and has been through basic training. She’s house trained, walks well on leash and knows a number of commands.

This young girl is a delightful combination of playful energy and gentle sweetness. She loves toys of all kinds, happily chases balls, and can keep herself entertained. She’s very dog‑friendly and thrives when she has canine companions to run and play with.

With people she knows she’s affectionate and loving, especially with women. She can be shy with men and needs slow, positive introductions. She can be sensitive to loud noises, large groups, and young children, so a quieter home will help her feel secure. Despite this, she is never aggressive — just cautious and gentle. She also loves her tummy rubs!

She walks well on leash, enjoys exploring, and has not shown a strong prey drive. She’s equally happy snuggling with her humans or finding a cozy spot to nap on her own.

She’s looking for an adopter who understands sensitive dogs and can give her the reassurance and structure she needs to blossom. In return, she’ll be a loyal, playful, and loving companion.

Hello dog lovers. I was contacted by a lovely donor today who was asking if we were still operating, given that we haven't posted in a while. The answer is yes! We have diversified slightly and are running a pantry operation to support foodbanks and other rescues and have also taken in some needy pups last fall. Fortunately we have been able to adopt most without the need to advertise widely so we haven't been posting much. I'm expecting new dogs to arrive in late March and will be ready for adoption in April. Still working on the line up! We have entered into a new partnership and will be happy to fill you in when I get chance. We will try to be more communicative! I still have my wait list and those folks will be contacted first about incoming suitable pups. Cheers!
