Trillian, you were the sweet little heartbeat at our feet. For 15½ years, you were there for all of it. Through the big moments, the major milestones, the hardest days and all the ordinary days in between.
Half Lab, half Cocker Spaniel and 100% sweetheart, you may have been travel-sized, but you had a big-dog bark. With your soft floppy ears, sad Cocker eyes, copper penny eyebrows and sweetest disposition, you were impossible not to love.
You were Trill, Trillybilly, Trillybilly Farms, Trillibum, Trimmimim, Chippy and so many other names — plus the owner of your own ridiculous human voice, lovingly provided by your family. You were an adventurer who loved camping, chasing Frisbees, fetching balls and carrying sticks twice your size.
You swam like an otter, climbed mountains like a goat and stole berries from the garden. You loved snowbanks, beaches and buried sticks, and you could hear a cucumber from anywhere in the house.
Most of all, you loved your people.
You were mum’s other heartbeat, dad’s couch-cuddler, and Everest’s protector, sister, best friend and constant companion.
Trill, you helped us raise our daughter, from cleaning up after her meals to walking her to and from school. You and she shared a childhood full of adventures and meaningful moments.
There will never be another Trillian — our loyal, patient, loving, funny, sweet and perfect girl.
You weren’t just part of our family. You helped make us a family, and you were woven so deeply into the fabric of our lives that it is impossible to imagine our story without you.
We’ll miss you so much, and we’ll love you forever, Trillian. ❤️

Some dogs have a special way of bringing love and laughter into everyday life, and sweet Frisco clearly did just that. With his adorable face and big, loving spirit, he brought so much warmth to the people who were lucky enough to know him. He loved nothing more than a good cuddle with his brother, Harley, and on his final day, he enthusiastically indulged on a special cheeseburger. Frisco will be deeply missed and forever loved.

With his gentle presence, loving nature, and larger-than-life personality, he brought an abundance of comfort, companionship, and joy to the people who loved him. There truly was so much of Chewy to love, and the space he leaves behind will be felt in countless little ways. His memory will remain a beautiful reminder of just how much love one very special dog can bring into a home.

“With broken hearts, we said goodbye to our sweet Chewy McFluffster, our goodest boy. The decision to let him go was an act of love, but one that has left a Chewy-sized hole in our hearts.

Chewy truly was the best and lived up to his name from the very beginning. He gave us so much love, so many snuggles, and years of loyal protection. We truly could not have asked for a better dog.

In his final days, we spoiled him with his favourite foods — pizza, steak, cheeseburgers and fries — and made sure he knew just how deeply loved he was.

The house feels empty without you, Chewy Bear, and we miss you more than words can say. The years spent together was not enough time, but we are so grateful for every moment we had with you.

Forever loved. Forever missed.

The love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the countless memories held by her family, friends, and community. It was a privilege to witness the extraordinary bond she shared with those who adored her.

“Our sweet Meg passed away at the age of 15. To say she was the heart and soul of our home would be an understatement, she was truly loved by so many people in our neighbourhood and by so many family members and friends. She was always full of joy and had a huge personality. She was a people dog and loved meeting and greeting new people. She loved cuddling in bed, playing flyball, chasing frisbees, hiking with the biggest stick she could and swimming in any body of water nearby. She also loved licking people and giving them big hugs amd getting all the attention. 
We love and miss so much Meggy. You gave us some the best years of lives. Farewell our sweet girl, we will see you again!”

Some pets become part of our lives so early that it can be hard to remember who we were before them. Cooper was one of those special dogs.
He came into his family’s life when they were just beginning adulthood, and in the 14+ years that followed, they grew up alongside one another. Through changing seasons, new chapters, celebrations, adventures, and countless quiet days at home, Cooper was there - faithfully sharing in all the big things and all the little things that make up a life.
Today, they remember a much-loved companion, a constant presence, and a best friend who will forever be part of their story. 🤍

“Cooper came into our lives when we were in our early twenties, two young adults who had no idea what we were doing. A rescue pup with a myriad of health issues, we all kind of figured it out together. From his puppyhood days to his golden years, Cooper was our steady, faithful companion as a velcro dog.
He was right there with us through all of our lives biggest chapters and milestones: our engagement and wedding, graduate school, quiet weekends, and grand adventures. He traveled more than most humans we know, but no matter where the road took us, his crooked, tiny-toothed smile was always guaranteed to brighten our days. He begrudgingly joined us on camping trips, questioning why we would take him away from his cozy spot on the couch, and seemed delighted whenever we would bring him to a hotel.
We were so lucky to be able to give Cooper the most special send-off during his final weekend with us. He was the life of the party at retirement celebrations, did part of his favorite walk on Mt. Tolmie one last time, soaked up the sun on a beach day, and visited his favorite pub where he may have enjoyed a sneaky half-sip of real b**r since they were out of dog b**r!
While saying goodbye leaves a hole in our hearts, we take comfort knowing he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the warmth and love he gave us for over 14 years.
Thank you for being our best friend. You will be loved and remembered forever.”

National Pet Memorial Day🕯️🐾❤️‍🩹

Today is a day about remembering.

The paws that once followed us from room to room.
The familiar sounds, the little rituals, the places they used to sleep.
The companionship that became so woven into the fabric of our lives that we sometimes forget just how much space they occupied - until they’re gone.

Today, we honour the grief.
The ache.
The quiet.
The enormous void left behind by a beloved pet.

And we remember that grief is simply love with nowhere to go.🤍

At Resting Paws, we have the extraordinary privilege of walking alongside families during one of the most tender moments of their lives. To be welcomed into someone’s home, to meet the animal they have loved so deeply, and to help create a peaceful goodbye is something we hold very close to our hearts.

Every family. Every pet. Every goodbye.

We never take it for granted.

In Loving Memory of Mr. Bean❤️

Some cats leave a particularly large imprint on the homes, and the hearts, they inhabit. Mr. Bean was certainly one of them. Beneath his wonderfully grumpy exterior was a deeply loved little soul with a personality all his own. In his later years, he even discovered a fondness for socializing with his neighbourhood feline friends, enjoying playdates right there in the hallway of his building.
It was an honour to help Mr. Bean find a peaceful goodbye surrounded by the people and home he loved. His presence may be gone from the hallway, but the space he held in his family’s hearts will remain. ❤️

“Mr. Bean was a grumpy old sod before he was a grumpy old sod. But he was the most lovable cat I’ve ever known, and overcame his early trauma with grace and dignity. He knew what he wanted, when he wanted it. And he let anyone nearby know. Beans initiated the building’s 3rd floor “cat parties”; a surprisingly social side of him emerged in his later years. 
My little buddy was precocious and never far from a good meal. He was a keen observer of the human species.
Our home has a hole without his big heart. He’ll always be remembered. There’s no one like this Mr. Bean.”

For 14 years, Riley was more than a beloved dog - he was a quiet thread woven through the story of his family’s life. From puppyhood onward, he grew alongside them, sharing countless ordinary days that, in his absence, will become some of their most treasured memories.
He found joy in walks, frisbee, liver treats, and, of course, giving the people he loved plenty of kisses. But it was his gentle, steadfast presence that made him irreplaceable.
Some companions leave pawprints on our hearts and become part of who we are. His family will carry his love with them, always. ❤️

“We adopted Riley 14 years ago when he was just a sweet little puppy and for 14 years he remained that same sweet little guy that we first met. When our daughter was born the following year, Riley was there and she has only ever known a life with him - they loved each other so much. From the very beginning, Riley was such a good dog - so loving and gentle and obedient. I don’t think we ever could have imagined how much he would mean to us. We will miss him (and his incessant licks) so much and are grateful we were lucky enough to have had many good years together.”

There was something quietly beautiful about the life Pene shared with her person. Together, they lived a peaceful life at a retirement home overlooking the ocean, where their days unfolded side by side as each other’s cherished companions.

An elegant Tonkinese with a gentle, soulful presence, Pene loved nothing more than curling up on her Mom’s lap for hours, gazing out at the ocean together. There was something almost timeless about those moments - the two of them simply enjoying one another’s company, watching the world go by beyond the window.

They were companions in the truest sense of the word. Pene offered the comfort of her quiet presence, her warmth, and her unwavering companionship, while her person gave her a loving lap, a peaceful home, and a life in which she was treasured. Their bond was woven into the small, ordinary moments of each day, until those moments became some of the most meaningful ones of all.

Some of the most profound love stories are the quiet ones - the ones found in a warm lap, a familiar presence, and two souls sitting together, looking out at the sea.

“It’s with a heavy heart that I honor this little cat. Pene has been part of my life for 19 years through good times  and sad times, always with a cuddle and softly purring in my arms. Pene was a brave little soul looking at me with those mysterious eyes as if asking whats wrong with me Mom? She isn’t suffering anymore and she will be etched in my heart forever. I love you sweet girl.”
