Varsity Performance Karate

Varsity Karate athlete Joann Huang is on the ground in Costa Rica ready to represent Canada, our dojo, and herself at the 2026 Junior Pan American Karate Championships. This annual competition brings together the best youth karate athletes in the Americas to test themselves against each other. The competition starts on Thursday with Joann’s division running on Friday…stay tuned for more updates as things progress.

The only constant in life is change. It’s with a teary smile that we send off my daughter Sofia Devlin to Prague for a 3 year physiotherapy degree (leaving in early September) and Ella Crowle to an exchange semester in Utrecht, NED (already there). These two have been a huge part of our dojo success and culture and will both be missed! On the up-side, both will be landing in amazing karate dojo and will be able to continue to grow and improve in their karate practise while also focusing on the education. Big thanks to everyone who showed up for our dojo send-off! Was a special evening. 🔥🇨🇦🥋❤️

Huge congrats to Varsity Karate athlete on earning a Bronze medal at the 2026 U21 and Senior Pan American Karate Championships! 🔥🥋🇨🇦 Ella represented Canada in the U21 -68kg Female Kumite category. This is Ella’s last year of eligibility in the U21 age category so the achievement is well appreciated before she moves on the focus on the Senior age category fully. Huge thank-you to competitors, organizers, coaches and volunteers to making this huge event a success. Over 500 athletes from 19 countries and competing in the May 28-30 completion in Macae, Brazil. Well done Ella!! 👏👏👏👏👏

What a crew!! Huge congratulations to the Varsity Karate athletes who took on the best age-group athletes in the country at the 2026 Junior National Karate Championships over the weekend in Edmonton, AB. The years edition of the event proved challenging and provided meaningful expense and learning for all. Our athletes earned one podium (and a berth one the junior national team) and multiple 5th places finishes, falling just shy of the podium. Leasons learned and taken forward to life and the next competition. Well done all! Also, a huge thank you to the Provincial team coaches, event organizers and volunteers.
