Dan from our media team 4trees Media demonstrates the importance of keeping your HVAC unit outside clean and free of debris on his Daikin Comfort dual zone heatpump.

Why?

Prevents System Breakdown: Plants and debris restrict airflow, forcing the system to work harder. This causes overheating, higher energy bills, and premature part failures like a burned-out compressor.

Avoids Physical Damage: Growing vines can weave into the unit, bending delicate aluminum fins, tangling in fan blades, or tearing electrical wiring.

Keeps Pests Away: Debris creates a nesting ground for mice, insects, and snakes, which love to chew through wires and destroy components.

As a rule of thumb, try to keep at least a two-foot clear zone around all sides of your outdoor unit.

Our team at RedBlue recently finished the HVAC installation for The Juniper Building, a new supportive housing building on Yates Street in Victoria.

We set up the heating and ventilation systems for all 46 studio homes to ensure the new residents have a comfortable and safe place to live.

It was rewarding to work on projects that provide permanent housing to those who need it most in our city.
