Doc Locks Dreadlocks Services

I've had locked hair for 15 years and I've been offering professional services for about 12 years now. I've started dreads and done maintenance in various types and lengths of hair over the years and I'm happy to work with you to find the best way to start or continue your journey. I moved to Victoria in 2019 and I offer services out of my home in North Park by appointment only. I offer:
Creating dreadlocks
Maintenance/ cleaning up messy dreads
Consultation
Colour
Cut/trim
Separating/combining dreads

Please note that I do not sell or install extensions. Dreadlocks are generally very misunderstood, so I'd like to quickly clarify a couple things:
Dreadlocks are just hair and can (and should!) be washed regularly. If you wash and dry your dreads properly, they are just as clean as any other hair style. Dreads are just sections of knotted hair. You do not need any product in your hair to make dreads. Hair will tangle into knots naturally when you shower. If you don't comb these knots out, they will knot together into bigger sections over time, and your hair will weave itself into ropes naturally as it grows. From then on, your hair will grow in as dreads. This process takes time as the hair sorts itself out, and can look messy, especially for the first year or so. My recommendation is to let it have as much freedom as possible during this time, so that it is more comfortable for you in the long run. Mature dreads can benefit from occasional maintenance to tuck in loose hairs that have come out, or combine them into new locks, but I would be careful of trying to keep the roots tight through "root flipping", which causes bad long-term damage for short-term gain.
