We’re excited to invite you and your loved ones to a free Community Dinner on Wednesday, August 26th from 5 to 7 PM at Rainbow Kitchen. We will be lucky enough to be assisted by our friends at VicPDcanada and can’t wait to have them help serve our community ❤️

Come into our space, meet the team, and see a little of what we do every day. Rainbow Kitchen is a place for everyone because everyone needs good food, and there are no barriers to joining us.

Bring your family, bring your friends, and enjoy a meal together with neighbours from all walks of life. We can’t wait to share food, conversation, and community with you. 💛

We’re thrilled to share that our friends at Kid Sister Ice Cream have made their support of Rainbow Kitchen a year round partnership, and we couldn’t be more grateful! 🍦🌈

Kid Sister is a locally owned ice cream shop on Esquimalt Road, known for its creative seasonal flavours, delicious small batch ice cream and the cutest little ice cream truck you may have spotted at events around town. It has also become a serious favourite among the Rainbow Kitchen staff and volunteers!

Throughout the year, Kid Sister will feature special seasonal swirl flavours, with $2.50 from every pint sold donated to Rainbow Kitchen’s School Program.

Rainbow Kitchen is now seeking sponsors for our 2026 Festive Bricks of Giving campaign, our holiday tradition that brings thousands of families together while helping ensure local children have access to nutritious meals in the years ahead.

It helps provide over 7,000 school meals EVERY MONTH to children across Greater Victoria while showcasing your business to more than 30,000 in-person visitors and 14,000+ online throughout the holiday season.

🍳 KIDS CAN COOK 🍳

We’re excited to launch a fun, hands on cooking program for kids ages 5 to 16 at Rainbow Kitchen!

Participants will learn how to prepare healthy meals while building confidence, teamwork and independence. They’ll take home practical skills, and often a meal, to share with the whole family.

What they’ll learn:

• Basic cooking and kitchen safety
• Nutrition and healthy eating
• Meal planning and food preparation
• Teamwork and communication
• Confidence, responsibility and independence
• Community through cooking and sharing meals

📅 First session: Saturday, July 25, 2026
⏰ 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
📍 Rainbow Kitchen, 500 Admirals Road
🔁 Sessions offered biweekly
👩‍🍳 Ages 5 to 16
👥 Maximum 10 participants with one volunteer for every two children

Cost is Pay What You Can, from $0 to $30 per class, to help offset food and supply costs. No child will be turned away due to financial hardship. We just request that kids bring their containers to take their delicious creations in.

💜 Lavender season is here! 💜

Our lavender is in full bloom, and we’d love for our community to enjoy it.

If you’d like some fresh lavender for your home, to dry, craft with, or simply enjoy the wonderful scent, stop by our little garden corner at the corner of Lyall St. & Constance Ave. in Esquimalt and help yourself.

We just ask that you harvest thoughtfully and leave some behind so others can enjoy it too.

We love sharing what grows in our garden with our neighbours. Happy harvesting! 🌿

What a wonderful evening at our most recent Community Dinner at Rainbow Kitchen! 💛

There is something so special about opening our doors and sharing a meal with our neighbours. Seeing so many families, smiling faces, and kids enjoying the evening together reminded us what community is all about.

This dinner was truly a community effort, and we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support around us. A huge thank you to the Esquimalt Ribfest Committee for sponsoring our BBQ, making events like this possible. Thank you as well to the Esquimalt Fire Department for generously volunteering their time to cook and serve dinner to our guests. And to the anonymous community member whose generous donation funded the entire meal, your kindness made this evening possible.

We are so grateful to be part of such a caring and generous community. Thank you to everyone who came out to share a meal, connect with neighbours, and make the evening so memorable.

We can’t wait to welcome you back for our next Community Dinner on August 19. We hope to see you there! ❤️

Recently, Chef Fil and Kim cooked up a delicious meal together at Rainbow Kitchen, bringing not only their culinary skills but also their wonderful partnership into our kitchen.

We are so grateful for volunteers who share their time, talents, and even involve their families in giving back to the community. Fil and Kim are proof that volunteering can be a family affair and that yes, you really can work alongside your spouse in the kitchen and still leave smiling! 😊

Thank you both for helping create nutritious meals and a welcoming space for our community. We couldn’t do what we do without volunteers like you.

A huge thank you to the amazing neighbours who took it upon themselves to organize a garden party to help tackle the spear grass in our community garden! 🌱💚

Not only did you lend a hand to our volunteer garden team, but you also helped create a more beautiful and welcoming space for everyone in our neighbourhood to enjoy.

Seeing community members come together, take initiative, and care so deeply about shared spaces is incredibly inspiring. We are so proud and grateful to be part of a community that shows up for one another in such meaningful ways.

It started as a conversation joking about trying to match shirt colours one day… and somehow turned into Green Shirt Wednesday 💚

This was our first time doing it and while it may not become an official tradition, it brought so many smiles and laughs to the team throughout the day. In the middle of busy days, little moments like this remind us how lucky we are to work alongside such a caring and fun group of people.
