Katie Lloyd will be delivering the keynote speech, "Yoni Art: Challenging the Narrative, Celebrating the Sacred" at the Embodying the Divine Feminine conference that I'm co-organizing with .bouwman.5 and .with.ayesha. The conference runs from June 6-8, 2025 and Katie will be speaking at 4pm EST on Saturday, June 7, 2025.

Katie's talk will be live streamed for those who cannot attend in-person. Tickets for the conference including the live stream are available via the link in my bio.

The non-profit conference has a phenomenal line-up of speakers, bringing together health practitioners, somatic and physiotherapists, s*x therapists, doulas, leadership coaches, nutritionists, yoga instructors, naturopaths, and social workers, among others to lead panel presentations and workshops on feminine embodiment and women's body literacy.

Apt to Be Rapt Creative, an arts collective of 12 poets, rappers, vocalists, music producers, and engineers from Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Gambia, Nigeria, Kenya, and Malaysia has released a 20-track album shining light on the harmful practice of female ge***al mutilation ( ) and defiantly celebrating women’s s*xual expression.

The album blends a rich and vibrant lyrical tapestry with soul music, Afro avant garde, and hip hop beats. On May 9th, Budding Orchid Apartheid will be available on all major music platforms. Today is the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Ge***al Mutilation (FGM/C), an act of gender violence against 11,000 girls per day across the world. I invite all people to learn more about the immense harms of this practice and to become an advocate for girls' human rights.

Together, with solidarity and empathetic commitment, we can end this torture once and for all.

My team's album on this topic and which celebrates women's s*xuality, Budding Orchid Apartheid, will be released next month. Stay tuned!

My local newspaper ran a story yesterday about an art gallery that I'm opening in 2025 that is dedicated to the v***a. It is called Yoni Mudra Art Gallery. It will have a coffee shop, gift shop, and a space for community groups to book for their activities such as yoga, dance, meditation, activism, breast-feeding, etc. I'm planning on running art workshops in the basement on such modalities as stained glass, pottery, and macramé.

Community members are planning on hosting s*xual trauma workshops, co-ed educational workshops on the v***a, and possibly workshops for men on the v***a to help them to understand it better. There are people who want to hold workshops on menstruation and women's s*xual pleasure. I would personally like to hold classes on the politics of the v***a and host workshops by gynecologists that teach women (and all people born with a v***a) about their reproductive health and how to look after their v***as.

Women across the world widely report feeling shame and inadequacy about their v***as. One of the central objectives of this space is to help us, as a society, move away from the monolithic forms presented by po*******hy, and the ubiquity of the male-gaze that defines for women what is desirable and acceptable, and to normalize the diversity of women's v***as. I do think that we are slowly getting ready to have these conversations.

Most of the v***a art that will be exhibited is made by women artists, some is anatomical, but mostly abstract, and mostly presented without a connection to a body. It is important to me that given the ubiquity of po*******hy that the gallery does not recreate those visual representations.

In addition to original and print art, the gift shop will have v***a-inspired jewelry, soap, candles, crystals, decorations, and pottery.

This will be an inclusive space. The story of this gallery started with advocacy, but there is space for anyone living with a v***a in this world to be centered and heard.
