Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour and reflect upon the children who never returned home and the Survivors, families and communities who continue to carry the impact of residential schools.
As a church, we also recognize that the history of residential schools includes the involvement of Christian churches. Reconciliation requires us to be willing to face the truth with humility, to listen, and to continue learning. Our hearts for the First Nation Peoples of Canada and active reconciliation efforts are reflected in our partnership with Fort Severn Pentecostal Assembly .
We are grateful for the relationships that are beginning there and for everything we were able to learn simply by being present and listening during our time with them this month.
Today is not about telling our story.
It is an opportunity to listen to the stories of Indigenous peoples, honour those who have carried them, and consider how we can continue walking toward reconciliation.

We had a great time this past Sunday with one another at our Koinonia event 🥞 What a special morning to simply be together and enjoy extra time with our church family. We hope your hearts (and stomachs) were full! ♥️
A big thank you to all of our volunteers who helped make it happen from cooking and serving to setting up and cleaning up. We couldn’t do it without you! 🙌
No pancake batter was harmed in the making of this video. 🥞😂
Yes, that is pancake batter.
Yes, the bag was sealed.
Yes, we’re actually serving pancakes!
Our Koinonia Event is happening this Sunday after both services:
10:00am to 11:00am
12:15pm to 1:15pm
Choose the time slot that proceeds the service you’re attending.
We’ll see you this weekend!

For 16 years, they prayed for a pastor.
After the passing of their last pastor, the elders of the church in Fort Severn continued to gather, pray, and faithfully care for their church community.
For years, they have asked God to send someone to come alongside them and help shepherd what He has already been sustaining here.
This week, we had the privilege of standing with them as Pastor Francis ATUAHENE was officially welcomed and installed as the pastor of fortsevernpentecostal !
Seeing the church receive him with such warmth was incredibly moving.
And somehow, that wasn’t even the whole story.
A baby was dedicated. Then a young woman who had come to church that morning decided she wanted to be baptized. Her grandmother is one of the elders who has carried her grandchildren in prayer for years.
We celebrated her baptism in the river and returned home.
Then there was a knock at the door.
Another woman had come looking for us. She was ready to turn from the life she had been living and follow Jesus. So we went back to the water and baptized her too.
There was so much joy.
Joy in the hugs. Joy in the tears. Joy as years of prayer began to bear fruit right in front of us.
It is difficult to put into words everything God has done in Fort Severn this week.
But it feels like embers are beginning to catch.
Sixteen years of prayer. A pastor has come. People are turning to Jesus. And God is not finished with Fort Severn.
