Your RRSP doesn't disappear after death, but what happens to it depends significantly on your beneficiary designations and how the account is set up. If you've designated a beneficiary, the process can be more straightforward.
If you've designated a beneficiary: The funds are typically paid directly to that person, which can make the process more straightforward and may help avoid additional probate fees.
If you haven't designated a beneficiary: The funds in your RRSP become part of your estate and typically go through probate.
Each path has different implications for taxes, timing, and administrative effort. And while the details can feel complicated, reviewing your current setup doesn't have to be overwhelming.
