Thelma Beaubien Obituary - Kitchener, ON 06/08/2026

Westvale mourns the loss of Thelma Beaubien, a passionate crusader for butterflies and butterfly gardens.

While not a Westvale resident, Thelma inspired the volunteers that created and maintain Westvale's pollinator garden in Bolingbrooke Park. Not only did Thelma share her extensive knowledge of which plants to include, she donated several of our original plants from her own butterfly garden.

Thelma's legacy will live on in many places, including our own Westvale butterfly garden.

What's with the orange circles on the grass? Westvale is getting new trees and the circles mark the spots!

As part of the 10,000 trees project, the City of Waterloo is planting new trees in Westvale, including Red River Park, Bolingbrooke Park, Westwind Park, Westfield Links, Westvale (Crater) Park, and Heather Hill Link.

Look for the new trees start to appear in mid-June!
