Abridged Opera is an indie opera company designed to bring a taste of this grand art form to communities in Southwestern Ontario that have limited access.
Windsor-Essex’s premiere opera company, our mission is to connect the community with exciting, educational, and professional productions that cater to a wide and varied audience. The company started in 2014 under the direction of Leamington native, Erin Armstrong but has since expanded and is governed by a board of local singers. Abridged Opera offers a full season of "abridged" opera to their community while collaborating with a variety of local arts groups.

By the pricking of our thumbs, something wicked this way comes... Abridged Opera summons you into the historic depths of Willistead Manor for a musical haunted house like no other!
Step through the veil as we weave a spellbinding tapestry of opera, musical theatre, and choral music. Follow our mysterious narrator through an enchanting, shadows-swept journey where eerie memories awaken and haunting melodies fill the air. Whether you’re an opera devotee, a musical theatre fanatic, or a curious soul seeking a spirited night out, this intimate gathering promises to enchant—and yes, it’s kid-friendly for the little monsters, too!
