Over the past year, 𝗛𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗸𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶 has contributed to our Provincial Fire and Life Safety (PFLS) projects across Manitoba and the MB Hydro Ready Room design project, bringing his experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and hydronic systems to our SMS team.

Who are you cheering for?

𝗡𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘆𝗙𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆, located on the mezzanine level at 300 Main, is one of downtown Winnipeg’s newest salons designed to feel like a luxury experience from the moment you arrive ✨

In this busy salon, treatment odours need to be continuously managed, while large west-facing windows bring in strong afternoon sun — both of which can quickly influence how the space feels throughout the day.

Behind the scenes, SMS designed the mechanical and electrical systems in collaboration with 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗖 𝗪𝗮𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁; to help keep the environment balanced so clients can relax, unwind and enjoy a calm visit.

In the open-ceiling areas, systems are finished in black, blending into the architecture so the focus stays on the space itself.

The result is a refined salon where everything works quietly in the background. Next time you’re at for some self-care, take a seat and notice the details that bring the space together.

𝗔 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗮 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹, located in Steinbach, MB, is a fully electric K–4 school and childcare facility designed around that reality — supporting long-term performance in a climate with wide seasonal extremes.

In collaboration with Prairie Architects, 𝗦𝗠𝗦 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 supported the design of low-carbon building systems focused on energy efficiency, comfort, and operational performance.

With a target of 𝗟𝗘𝗘𝗗 𝗦𝗶𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗿 and achieving approximately 35% better energy performance than the Manitoba Energy Code, this project provides a new learning space designed for the growing community of Steinbach and the surrounding areas.
