On 1 October, BPC and the Vietnam Banks Association (VNBA) co-organised SmartVista Day Vietnam: Shaping Vietnam’s Secure Digital Banking Future in Hanoi.

The event brought together around 100 banking and payments leaders to explore Vietnam’s next banking era, the evolving fraud landscape, modern fraud-management strategies and merchant modernisation.

Nguyen Thanh Son, Head of Training and International Relations at VNBA, opened the event and set the stage for the day’s discussions.

Imran Vilcassim explored how partnerships can help build smarter banks, connected ecosystems and new digital value, while Jonathan Bautista presented a modern fraud-management playbook for today’s banking environment.

The discussion was further enriched by Ha Hai Quang, Risk Consulting Director at KPMG Vietnam, who shared insights into the latest fraud trends worldwide and in Vietnam.

We were also honoured to welcome Nguyen Thi B**h Hang from PVcomBank, who reflected on the success of the bank’s 10-year partnership with BPC.

Thank you to VNBA, our participants and BPC speakers Hanh Bui, Imran Vilcassim, Dita Mustika, Jonathan Bautista, Dulanjana Kumaratunge and Tommy Nguyen for making the event a success.

Big Bang or phased migration, which approach is right for your bank?

A Big Bang migration concentrates preparation and risk around one controlled cutover, while a phased migration spreads the transition across a longer period and requires legacy and modern platforms to operate together.

Neither approach is better by default. The right choice depends on the condition of the legacy platform, the complexity of the bank’s data and integrations, its deadlines and its ability to manage the transition.

Read our latest article to learn what the approach might best for you and why combining elements of each may sometimes offer the most controlled route to modernisation.

What does modern card issuing look like when customers expect payment credentials to work seamlessly everywhere?

Across Asia Pacific, banks are rethinking legacy issuing platforms as digital payments accelerate and customer expectations evolve. Modernisation is becoming essential to launch digital-first products faster, manage the complete credential lifecycle, strengthen fraud protection and reduce costly false declines.

In Fintech News Singapore, Jonathan Lee, BPC’s Partners and Alliances Director APAC, explores how financial institutions across the region are taking different approaches to modernisation and why transformation does not have to mean a single, high-risk replacement.

Union Bank has modernised its credit card business with BPC SmartVista, introducing a unified payment platform that gives the bank greater control over product development, integrations, data and customer experience. This initiative is an integral part of the Bank’s digital transformation agenda.

Moving away from a legacy environment hosted outside the country gives Union Bank greater control and the Bank is now better positioned to deliver secure, relevant and enhanced credit card experiences to the customers.

Day 1 at Seamless Middle East started with a busy morning at the BPC stand.
We had many visitors, meetings and conversations and its only the start.
Today, Alexis Haessler and Ali Nanji took the stage for “The Legacy Iceberg and the Cost of Standing Still: How to Modernise Without Disruption.” The session looked at the hidden cost of legacy payments infrastructure — from operational complexity and rising maintenance costs to slower innovation, fragmented controls and the risk of disruption when modernisation is delayed.
They covered how banks and financial institutions can approach modernisation step by step, reducing migration risk while building a more scalable, secure and future-ready payments environment.

Our partner from PSR is also onsite with modern SoftPOS terminals. If you are interested in BPC’s SoftPOS/mPOS solution, visit us at Stand H60 for a free quick demo!

Lets connect! We are here today, tomorrow and 24th September. Come by to say hello at Stand H60.

A legacy card platform may still process today’s transactions. But can it support the card business a bank wants to build next?

Delaying card-issuing modernisation carries costs that extend beyond technology. False declines can reduce revenue, disconnected systems increase operational workloads, and rigid infrastructure can slow the launch of virtual cards, tokenisation and other digital-first services.

In a new article for Asian Banking & Finance, Jonathan Bautista, APAC Regional Solution Director at BPC, explores how modular architecture and a carefully planned migration strategy can help banks modernise while maintaining business continuity.
