The general approach of the project is based on musical, artistic and other forms of cultural expressions.
La Minga Roots is a multidisciplinary project promoting and disseminating music, arts and other cultural expressions, supporting the development of sustainable business solutions as well as social and community projects. The main objectives are:
a) To support music, the arts and different forms of expression of traditional and independent cultures present in Bern and Switzerland, to promote them and to ensure that they contribute positively to the transformation of the communities. b) To offer workshops based on art and cultural expressions (music, dance, audio-visual, plastic arts, etc.) that invite to explore and discover new forms of cooperation in the working environment, promoting also the well-being and creativity of the participants. c) To support social projects in Switzerland and elsewhere that work for peace, human rights and social justice. d) To create, discover and strengthen networks of cooperation between La Minga Roots as a cultural entity and different working and social environments, as a means to promote development and social well-being. La Minga Roots is therefore also an itinerant space for collective work, mutual support and the promotion of well-being - a space for building community around culture, open to all people, without segregation of any kind. La Minga Roots is formalised in Switzerland as a non-profit association. It is neutral in terms of party politics and denomination.
Al golfo de Tribugá en el Pacífico colombiano, uno de los lugares con mayor biodiversidad del mundo, año tras año llegan cientos de ballenas jorobadas para reproducirse. Leo, un artista sonoro del interior del país, llega para conocerlas a través de la escucha subacuática. Para él, escuchar el océano permite descifrar sus sonidos como mensajes urgentes que nos exigen más consciencia de nuestros actos humanos. Con el apoyo de la comunidad de Nuquí, con su esposa y un productor musical, con un coro de cantaoras y niños en altamar, realizan un concierto humano-cetáceo. Este gesto permite acercar a las dos especies y crear una reflexión sobre las capacidades y sensibilidad que tenemos como humanos para cuidar la vida.
Hundreds of humpback whales arrive year after year to breed in the Gulf of Tribugá in the Colombian Pacific, one of the most biodiverse places in the world. Leo, a sound artist from the interior of the country, comes to meet them through underwater listening. For him, listening to the ocean allows him to decipher its sounds as urgent messages that demand greater awareness of our human actions. With the support of the Nuquí community, he and his wife, a music producer, and a choir of flamenco singers and children on the high seas perform a human-cetacean concert. This gesture brings the two species closer together and sparks a reflection on the capacities and sensitivity we have as humans to protect life.

Für die meisten Menschen sind der Ozean und das Leben in ihm ein stilles Geheimnis. Leo, ein Klangkünstler, hat festgestellt, dass das Unterwasserhören den Menschen die Wertschätzung des Lebens näherbringen und ihr Bewusstsein dafür schärfen kann. Deshalb begleitet und lauscht er den Buckelwalen, die nach Nuquí kommen – einem der artenreichsten Orte der Welt –, um sich dort fortzupflanzen. Und zusammen mit einem Chor von Sängerinnen auf hoher See veranstaltet er ein Konzert, bei dem Menschen und Wale gemeinsam musizieren.

Leo, un artista sonoro, ha comprobado que la escucha subacuática puede acercar y sensibilizar a los humanos con el cuidado de la vida. Por eso sigue y escucha a las ballenas jorobadas que llegan a Nuquí, uno de los lugares con mayor biodiversidad del mundo, para reproducirse.
