⚓ ¡Celebramos un nuevo hito para la comunidad portuaria de la República Dominicana! 🇩🇴 Los días 17 y 18 de septiembre, los participantes de la 7.ª promoción del Curso de Gestión Moderna de Puertos de UN Trade and Development TRAINFORTRADE presentaron y defendieron sus trabajos de fin de curso en HIT Puerto Río Haina, culminando cerca de dos años de formación y 280 horas de aprendizaje.

Un total de 22 participante (4 ♀️) completaron con éxito el programa. Sus trabajos abordaron desafíos y oportunidades concretas de la comunidad portuaria dominicana, incluyendo medio ambiente, relación Puerto-Ciudad y Mejora de la eficiencia, con propuestas y recomendaciones prácticas para contribuir al desarrollo y la competitividad del sector.

La ceremonia de entrega de certificados contó con la presencia de Armando Rivas, Vicepresidente de HIT, Luis Cueli, Director Comercial de Sansouci Ports, Piar Serret Murga, Consejera Económica y Comercial de la Embajada de España en República Dominicana, y Gonzalo Ayala de UNCTAD.

👏 Felicitamos a todos los graduados por este importante logro y, en particular, a los cinco participantes seleccionados para realizar una viaje de estudios a puertos españoles en 2027.

Con esta promoción, más de 100 profesionales se han graduado del programa en la República Dominicana, fortaleciendo una comunidad portuaria cada vez más capacitada y conectada.

This week, the The Namibian Ports Authority - Namport launched Cycle 2 of UN Trade and Development TRAINFORTRADE's Modern Port Management Course in Swakopmund 🇳🇦, with Module 1: International Trade and Maritime Transport, delivered from 14 to 18 September 2026.

It marks a much-awaited return to the programme in Namibia, more than a decade after the country's first cycle, which began in 2011 and concluded in 2013.

⚓ The module brought together 19 middle managers, including 6 women ♀️, and was led by Captain Gary Wilson alongside Namport's local instructors, many of whom are certified UNCTAD TrainForTrade instructors themselves.

And what a start: 93% participant satisfaction for the very first module! 👏 Over the next two years, participants will complete 240 hours of training across eight modules and develop a real-world case study addressing a concrete problem or opportunity in their port community, with actionable recommendations.

Demand for the minerals behind the energy transition - lithium, cobalt, copper - is climbing fast, and the trade rules around them are being written now. The course asks what those rules mean for women.

¡Concluye la Semana Portuaria 2026 en Santander, España! 🇪🇸 Del 8 al 11 de septiembre, 20 representantes de comunidades portuarias de Argentina 🇦🇷, Bolivia 🇧🇴, Guatemala 🇬🇹, Perú 🇵🇪, República Dominicana 🇩🇴 y Uruguay 🇺🇾, entre ellos 9 ♀️ mujeres, participaron en esta semana de intercambio, aprendizaje y reflexión sobre el futuro de los puertos.

En el marco de la cooperación de UN Trade and Development TRAINFORTRADE con la Autoridad Portuaria de Santander, la Semana Portuaria, coorganizada por Puertos del Estado, la Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo y el Puerto de Santander, abordó temas como las relaciones puerto-ciudad, la movilidad sostenible e inteligente, el papel geoestratégico de los puertos y los nuevos modelos de gestión y liderazgo.

Una valiosa oportunidad para fortalecer la cooperación y el intercambio de experiencias entre las comunidades portuarias de la red.

That is how many ideas came in for the second Supply Chain Innovation Challenge, now closed — ideas for keeping goods moving when supply chains break down.
