When one door closes, another one opens.😇

Losing Nova hit hard. But two things were never up for debate: that I couldn't stay dogless for long, and that my dogs come from a shelter, not from a breeder. Too many dogs are already waiting for a home to justify helping produce more.😪

Young dogs almost never show up in shelters. This one did. I like to think Nova had a hand in it.😘

Meet Kimbo. 7 months old, blueline Ambully. A great character, and remarkably calm for a dog his age, always up for something, but never wired. So far, anyway. Puberty is around the corner.😬😅

I feel honoured to give him a home and I hope I’ll live up to it.🤞

Joy and sorrow often lie so close together. One moment I’m on my way to my holiday, full of excitement and energy. Hours later, after landing at the destination, the news that Nova has passed away.

Nova showed everyone how wonderful a dog can be. That breed and past don’t matter. Of her 12 years of life, I got to share 8 with her. Far too few, but countless memories will stay with me forever.

Nova won everyone over. People who didn’t like dogs, or didn’t like Amstaffs, became dog fans, or at least Nova fans.

At the gym she was the attraction that got you through long rest periods, or gave you new motivation for the next set. Nothing and no one could take her zest for life away from her. Even after she went completely blind, she’d rather bump her head into something 100 times than miss anyone walking into the gym.
