Noch ist es eine Baustelle. Doch der neue Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW Campus Dreispitz ist bereits deutlich spürbar.
Zwischen Materialstapeln und laufenden Montagearbeiten wird der Ausbau täglich sichtbarer: Die offenen Lernzonen nehmen Gestalt an, die Coworking und Lounge Terrasse wird zunehmend grüner, und die neuen Arbeits-, Meeting- und Begegnungsbereiche lassen bereits erahnen, wie der Campus künftig genutzt und belebt wird.
Bis zum Start des Herbstsemesters bleibt noch viel zu tun. Dass ein Ausbau dieser Dimension in einem so engen Zeitfenster umgesetzt werden kann, ist nur dank verlässlicher und erfahrener Unternehmer möglich. Mit jedem weiteren Schritt wird deutlicher, wie aus der ursprünglichen Gebäudestruktur Schritt für Schritt ein offener, vernetzter und zukunftsorientierter Campus entsteht.

Not every project unfolds exactly as originally planned. Sometimes, changing circumstances call for a new perspective – and that is exactly what happened at the FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel.
When architectural practice E2A won the competition for the new building in 2017, the world looked very different. Construction appeals delayed the project, while the pandemic profoundly changed how we think about learning, teaching, collaboration and the value of physical presence.
Before construction began, Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz FHNW commissioned Evolution Design to further develop the learning and interior design in response to these changing needs.
Our work focused on creating greater openness, connection and flexibility within the existing structure: more generous learning and workplace environments, new meeting and coffee hubs, warmer materials, improved acoustics, and a covered, landscaped learning and lounge terrace.
The result is a more open and connected campus – designed to support focus, collaboration, exchange and community.

The interior and education design for the new FHNW Campus Dreispitz in Basel is now visibly taking shape.
With deliveries arriving by the hour and construction moving at full speed, the project is entering an exciting phase on site. Our team is currently closely involved as planning, coordination and implementation come together in the final stretch before the campus opens for the autumn semester 2026.
After three years of developing the concept, aligning ideas and refining every detail, the vision is now turning into a one-of-a-kind campus for teaching, learning, working, and connecting.
Over the coming weeks, we look forward to sharing more from the construction site and showing how the project has evolved conceptually.

It's always fascinating to look back at where a project began.
These before-and-after images capture the transformation of the new MS Reinsurance Global Headquarters in Zurich – from a raw construction site to a workplace where focus meets comfort and flexibility powers productivity.
What started as concrete floors, exposed services and empty volumes became a series of inspiring environments that bring this vision to life – reflecting both the culture of MS Reinsurance and the way their people work.

A strong brand should be experienced, not just seen ✨
Following MS Reinsurance's recent rebrand, we had the opportunity to translate this global reinsurer’s values of trust, collaboration, and a people-centred approach into its Global Headquarters in Zurich.
Spread over four floors in Zurich’s Enge district, the workplace offers a diverse range of environments – from dedicated team neighbourhoods and quiet focus spaces to collaborative and informal meeting areas – all connected through the symbol of the sun from MS Reinsurance's visual identity, representing consistency, reliability, and growth. This idea unfolds through colours, materials, forms, and graphic elements, creating a workplace that feels both distinctive and authentic.
The result is more than a new head office. It is a space that reflects who MS Reinsurance is as an organisation for its team, clients, and partners.

Between calls and everyday work, we kept noticing small moments across the city.
Some of them turned into short films – on urban greenery, public housing, and learning spaces.

Our three-week workation in Singapore left us with many architectural impressions.
One of the most memorable was The Hive at Nanyang Technological University.
Designed by Heatherwick Studio, this building rethinks how a university can work – with circular towers and corner-less classrooms designed to encourage collaboration and informal learning.
The building also uses passive design strategies and natural ventilation, reducing the need for conventional air conditioning in many spaces.
A place where architecture reshapes how people learn and meet – certainly something to be inspired by and learn from.
During our three weeks working from Singapore, one thing kept appearing again and again: public housing.
Around 80% of Singapore's population lives in housing developed by the state – forming carefully planned neighborhoods across the island where homes, schools, markets, parks, and transit are integrated into everyday life.
From the early HDB landscapes to increasingly ambitious mega projects, generation after generation.

We arrived excited and curious about the remote work experience as well as Singapore itself – and left with a series of lasting impressions.
One of the strongest was Singapore’s urban nature.
Since the 1960s, nature has been deliberately woven into the fabric of the city – trees, rooftop gardens, parks, nature reserves – not as decoration, but as something that actively looks after people’s needs.
Physically, the greenery cools the tropical climate and makes streets walkable. Mentally, it turns a dense, fast-moving city into somewhere that actually feels calm and human. And strategically, it's been central to shaping a national identity and quality of life that sets Singapore apart.
