Youngest to climb ElCapitan! Loves birthday cake ice cream. This account is managed by parents. At age 1, he loved being on the rocks.
Even before he could walk, Sam Adventure Baker (yes, that’s his real middle name!) was going on hikes in a backpack with his parents, Joe and Ann. He started doing low-angle climbs when he was 3. And by age 5, Sam had climbed his first mountain. Sam has already climbed to heights most adults can only imagine. Pingora Peak was an amazingly rewarding adventure that kicked off a series of films. The Washington Column is next. All roads lead toward El Capitan in Yosemite Valley, where Sam hopes to be the youngest climber to take it on. Sam’s family takes every precaution possible. He is always clipped in - when he eats, sleeps and when Mother Nature calls! Sam’s dad has been trained by the Rock Guide Association, and they hire expert guides who can carry heavy equipment and handle the rigging, allowing them to stay by Sam’s side. When Sam heard there are children without moms and dads, he wanted to help them. His family is raising funds for organizations that support foster children and help them find a forever family.
Sam became the youngest American to climb the Matterhorn this week! It was amazing!
