Fantastic weekend working with Warren Smith Ski Academy and their summer gap students rounding off a successful week of their IASI Level 1 instructor exams with full marks in their Outdoor First Aid.

We wish the students the best with their futures in snowsports, and perhaps slightly less unusual bandaging techniques!!

Another great Level 3 Outdoor First Aid course in Zermatt, Switzerland.

We had a range of ski instructors, from directors of ski schools to trainee instructors, with a couple of ex-military with very grounding real stories of emergency first aid in action. Fantastic to have such a range of experience in the room being shared.

Poor old Annie got herself into some awkward positions yet again, and we had some extreme 'situations' all designed for to take the knowledge from the classroom into a real context, with a systematic approach that should stand everyone in good stead no matter what they are faced with in the future.

Thanks to instructors from Diamonds Training Centre, Matterhorn Diamonds, Nendaz Ski School European Snowsport, Sommet-Et-Neige, Warren Smith Ski Academy, Performance Verbier Ski School, IASI, Nuco Training.

More courses running in November!

A beautiful afternoon in Zermatt at the IASI Coaching Theory Module meant Annie was taken out into the sunshine to be saved.

Some interesting discussions at going on at a ski-specific course from varied backgrounds, including a former nurse, a special needs teacher and a construction industry specialist.

First Aid is some every ski instructor has to do every three years, but that doesn't mean it has to be boring or repetitive.

Our most recent trainee's had great fun with Resus Relay, The Weakest Link, and got to know Annie in their own way!

First day in full swing for the EA Ski & Snowboard group in Zermatt doing Level 3 Outdoor First Aid.
Demonstrations, practical work, games and looking at the biology behind the protocol to better understand what we are learning.

In association with Diamonds Training Centre.

Today we have been out practicing CPR and outdoor scenarios in the snow.

Scenarios are a great way of learning; the book may make it seem simple, easy to remember, but when working in a dynamic environment you have to make calls and decisions based on what is in front of you, not what you would do in a perfect world.
