🌊 Ocean Warning Update - Southern Group

Large southerly swells are expected to affect the Southern Cook Islands over the next few days as rough ocean conditions develop.

🌊 Swells may reach:
β€’ 3-4 metres in open waters
Think of it like shaking a bucket of water:
β€’ normally the water moves gently,
β€’ but during heavy swells, the water becomes stronger and pushes further onto the shore.

🌊 Coastal Flooding Risk
This may look like:
β€’ πŸš— water washing onto coastal roads
β€’ 🏝️ flooding in low-lying shoreline areas
β€’ 🌴 strong waves pushing into beaches and coastal properties
β€’ πŸ’¦ sea spray reaching roads and walkways

πŸ’¨ Winds
Increasing to:
β€’ πŸ’¨ 20-25 knots from later tomorrow
This may lead to:
β€’ 🌊 rougher and choppier seas
β€’ 🚀 more difficult boating and fishing conditions
β€’ 🌴 stronger gusts along coastal areas

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide further updates if there are any changes.

Great news. Hoping to get the newer planes back for the AKL-RAR-AKL routes ✈️ 🀞🏽 😎 Air New Zealand

✈️ GOOD NEWS UPDATE: Air New Zealand’s grounded fleet is finally heading back to the skies! πŸ™Œ

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the tarmac, you know Air NZ has had a tough run with supply chain issues and engine maintenance, forcing them to ground several aircraft. But there is a clear light at the end of the hangar tunnel.

Here is the breakdown of the airline's recovery roadmap:

Late June 2026: All grounded Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners are expected to be fully back in service.

By 2027: The remaining grounded Airbus aircraft will be completely restored to operation.

What does this mean for now?
To keep us moving in the meantime, Air NZ will continue leasing wet-lease aircraft and extra engines. While bearing these heavy leasing costs isn't ideal for their bottom line, it’s the price they are paying to keep disruptions to a minimum.

The Silver Lining:
Once the in-house fleet is fully restored, the airline expects a massive boost in operational flexibility. Translation? More reliable schedules, better backup options when things go wrong, and more of that classic Kiwi service on their own metal.

Standard Kiwi resilience in action. Kia Kaha, Air New Zealand! πŸ‡³πŸ‡ΏβœˆοΈ

what are your thoughts? Have you flown on any of their leased replacement aircraft recently, or are you eager to see the full Dreamliner fleet back where they belong?
