Appreciation Post: Likombe-Buea First Aid Day 💉❤️

Yesterday we wrapped up the first edition of the Asaba health foundation First Aid project in Likombe Village, Buea Subdivision — and my heart is full.

The Mission
At Asaba Health Foundation, our mission is simple: “Know First Aid, Be the Difference Tomorrow.”

Medical emergencies like severe bleeding, burns, choking, snake bites and accidents happen daily in rural communities where hospitals are far.

Likombe Village faces that reality. So we launched this pilot to build local emergency response capacity, right where it’s needed most.

What We Achieved
1. 20 community first responders trained teachers, health centre personnel, quarter heads, bike riders, market women & youth leaders now equipped with life-saving skills in bleeding control, CPR, burns, choking, recovery position & snake bites.
2. 08 community first aid kits donated to strategic locations across Likombe and Bwassa villages.
3. 1,200+ residents reached through practical demonstrations & awareness sessions at Likombe Primary School.
4. A new network created - trainees are now connected via WhatsApp for follow-up, refill guides, and refresher sessions, with Likombe Health Centre supporting sustainability.

Why This Matters
This project showed me one thing: when you put skills and basic tools in the hands of a community, you don’t just save lives - you build resilience. Imagine if every village in Cameroon had 20 trained first responders and accessible first aid kits. Response time drops. Panic reduces. Lives are saved before an ambulance even arrives.

That’s why it’s critical we support more initiatives like this. Rural communities deserve the same chance at survival as urban centers. Investing in grassroots health preparedness is investing in families, in schools, in the future.
