As expectations for drones continue to grow, aerial systems are being asked to do more than simply spot objects from above. They need to identify small targets in complex environments, distinguish people from their surroundings, and keep tracking them even as conditions change.

Recently, after a fishing ship capsized off the coast of Zhangzhou, a JOUAV VTOL Hangar reached the scene in about 6min.

Equipped with a gimbal camera featuring AI recognition, 30× optical zoom and thermal imaging, the hangar system identified and located 2 people clinging to the wreckage in the challenging offshore.

The two survivors were rescued 57min after the accident was reported. This is where intelligent aerial operations are heading — from simply seeing what is there to recognizing what matters and continuously tracking it.

Two JOUAV VTOL Hangar systems were deployed to support the response. The CW-15V UAVs launched at night, flew up to 20km to the site, and operated continuously for 7 days, streaming real-time imagery and data to the command center.

High-res mapping and 3D modeling helped teams assess terrain changes, monitor reconstruction, and identify potential risks—turning aerial data into actionable insights throughout the recovery process.

From vessel-based inspections to efficient, all-weather aerial monitoring.🚢

Traditional port and waterway inspections often require vessels, crews, and fuel, making frequent inspections costly and difficult to sustain.

The JOUAV CW-80E + SAR UAS offers a different approach, enabling long-endurance monitoring without repeated vessel deployment, while reducing field manpower and operating costs.🚀

With SAR, the UAV system can operate day and night and under low-visibility conditions, helping detect shoreline collapse, slope deformation, moving vessels or maritime targets, and other waterway hazards.

This UAS has already been deployed for port and waterway inspection in areas like Dongting Lake and Zhoushan Port, supporting more efficient monitoring of waterways and their surrounding environments.

JOUAV CW-80E + SAR Completes Long-Endurance Flight Test

JOUAV and its partner have completed a 7-hour flight test of the CW-80E equipped with a lightweight SAR system.

Conducted at an altitude of 4,000 m, the test achieved 0.3 m-resolution SAR imaging, highlighting the potential of UAV-based SAR for high-precision, all-weather remote sensing.

With its long endurance and wide-area coverage capabilities, the CW-80E SAR UAV system completed ground imaging and generated multiple SAR products, including:

✔️Single Look Complex (SLC) data
✔️ Fully polarimetric imagery
✔️ Interferometric DEM data
✔️Repeat-pass multi-baseline data

This test demonstrates how the combination of long-endurance UAVs and lightweight SAR can bring high-resolution, all-weather remote sensing to more practical applications such as flood monitoring, waterway safety, and oil spill detection, providing a flexible and cost-efficient option for rapid sensing in complex environments.

A recent typhoon severely impacted power transmission lines across the city. 🌪️

To support urgent post-disaster response efforts, Southern Power Grid deployed multi-rotor drones and CW-15 UAVs to conduct critical inspections and assist with repair planning.

With its extended flight time, wider inspection range, and greater operational efficiency compared with multi-rotor drones, the CW-15 carried out overall emergency inspections across multiple high-voltage transmission lines. It captured essential data on the damage and promptly shared the findings with relevant power grid departments.

JOUAV VTOL Hangar Enables Autonomous Power Grid Inspection — 140km Away. One Click. 31 Minutes

The Yunnan Power Grid is using the JOUAV VTOL Hangar System to enable remote, autonomous transmission line inspection.

From an office 140km away, operators remotely launched a CW-15V UAV stationed at a 35kV substation. The UAV system then autonomously completed a 19.4km 3D LiDAR scan of a 220kV transmission line in just 31 minutes, with minimal on-site personnel.

Long-distance and periodic powerline inspections are where autonomous UAV systems can make a real difference.

In Jieyang, the JOUAV VTOL Hangar system has been supporting transmission line corridor inspections. Just 2 months after deployment, the system has already completed 966.74km of LiDAR-based corridor inspection.

So far, the system has achieved:
🚁 104.46km max. flight distance in a single mission
🕒 89min max. flight time per flight
📡 45km max straight-line flight distance

This hangar system brings new level of efficiency to their long-distance corridor inspections, combining long endurance of fixed-wing flight with remote deployment and autonomous operation.

For power utilities, this means more corridors covered with fewer field deployments, making periodic inspections more scalable, efficient, and data-driven.
