Mixer 101: Getting a buzzing or humming noise when connecting your computer to a mixer?

When your computer and mixer are both grounded, and they’re also connected through an audio cable, a ground loop can form. If there’s a voltage difference between the devices, unwanted current can flow through the loop. That interference is then amplified by the audio system, creating the familiar hum.

Ever wondered why most PA speakers are installed vertically?

It’s all about HF horn coverage. Turning a speaker sideways can change its horizontal and vertical coverage, affecting how high frequencies spread across the audience.

If horizontal mounting is necessary, check whether the HF horn can be rotated 90° to maintain the intended coverage pattern.
