WHY IS IT SO HARD TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT HOME?
Ever watched House Hunters and noticed ultimately that the buyers are left with 2 choices?
The house has absolutely everything they want. The perfect kitchen, the pool, the location, the view. There's just one problem. It's way over their budget.
The other is comfortably within their budget, but it doesn't check all the boxes. Maybe the place needs a little TLC.
The beautiful kitchen in one house makes the perfectly functional kitchen in another seem inadequate. The incredible ocean view makes us forget that the other house is actually in the neighborhood where we wanted to live.
Before long, we're searching for a home that combines the best features of both, even though that home might not exist within our budget.
So what's a better way to approach it?
Eliminate one option before introducing another.
Rather than continuously adding properties to your list, evaluate each one and decide whether it's genuinely worth keeping in consideration.
If it isn't, eliminate it and move on.
This keeps the decision-making process manageable and prevents you from constantly comparing every new property against a growing list of homes you've already seen.
The goal isn't to find a home that has everything. It's to find the home that has everything that matters most to YOU.
💬 YOUR TURN: Would you choose the perfect house that's over budget or the affordable house that requires compromises?

The Truth About Rainy Season in Guanacaste, Costa Rica
For many people dreaming about moving to Costa Rica, the idea of “rainy season” sounds intimidating at first.
They picture endless storms, weeks of gray skies, flooded roads, and tropical chaos. Some visitors even try to avoid Guanacaste entirely between May and November because they imagine nonstop rain every day.
Then they arrive and realize something surprising:
Rainy season in Guanacaste is often one of the most beautiful, comfortable, and enjoyable times of the entire year.
In fact, many longtime residents will quietly tell you they actually prefer it.
The landscapes turn electric green, sunsets become dramatic, temperatures cool down, wildlife becomes more active, waterfalls come back to life, and the entire region feels calmer and less crowded.
But rainy season is also real. Roads can flood. Humidity rises. Infrastructure gets tested. Mold becomes part of life. Some businesses slow down. Internet outages happen. And if you move to Costa Rica expecting perfect weather every single day, the transition can feel frustrating.
The reality is that rainy season is both magical and inconvenient at the same time.

I've noticed something about the people I work with who actually end up buying property in Costa Rica.
They're different.
Not because they're wealthier. Not because they have everything figured out. And definitely not because moving to another country is somehow easy for them.
They just seem to have a different relationship with fear.
They still have concerns. They still ask questions. They still understand that there are risks.
They just don't let fear make their decisions for them.
Most of them are looking for something more than a property.
They want a more fulfilling life.
And I've noticed something else about them.
They do their homework.
They've researched the towns. They've looked at prices. They've learned about the buying process. They've watched videos, read articles, studied maps and usually have a pretty good idea of what they want before we ever get in the car together.
Because of that, they don't need to look at 40 properties.
They aren't trying to see everything that's for sale just because it's for sale.
They know their budget.
They know the lifestyle they're looking for.
They know which compromises they're willing to make and which ones they're not.
Then when the right property shows up, they're able to recognize it.
I think there's a bigger lesson in that than just real estate.
At some point, you can research something forever.
You can keep waiting for every question to be answered, every risk to disappear and the timing to become perfect.
But eventually there comes a point where you have to decide whether you're going to keep thinking about the life you want...
or start building it.
The people I've watched actually make this move aren't fearless.
They're just more interested in what their life could become than in staying where everything feels familiar.
And I think there's something pretty special about that.
