At 3,432 meters (11,260 feet) above sea level, Irazú Volcano takes you into a completely different world.

You will notice that many of the plants here aren't tall like the ones in the rainforest. Instead, they grow short and compact, staying close to the ground to protect themselves from the cold, wind, and harsh conditions.

These little monkeys, reaching around 2 feet in body length, are famous for having one of the loudest calls in the animal kingdom.
