Yesterday we had the opportunity to present our new publication at La Biblioteca di Scandicci. This inaugural event marks the beginning of a series of occasions aimed at bringing this free resource to as many interested artists, curators, and cultural professionals as possible, while sharing the knowledge gathered throughout the past three years of IMPORT/EXPORT nomadic events.

This presentation took place as part of FORMA EFFIMERA, a microfestival dedicated to performance art, organized by GOGMAGOG (Cristina Abati) in collaboration with the Municipality of Scandicci, Open City Scandicci Estate, and the Region of Tuscany.

Thank you to the audience in Scandicci for the thoughtful questions, to Cristina Abati for making this event possible, and to La Biblioteca di Scandicci for hosting us!

At Flower Square, in collaboration with Kulturni centar Beograda, Darius Bogdanowicz Da Rius presented a video installation bringing together documentation of two past performances: “WHITE SHEET (Street Poetry on Passive Body)” and “Salvando las Distancias”, both performed in the surroundings of Moria Migrant Detention Camp in Le**os (Greece) in 2018.
“Salvando las Distancias” takes its title from a Spanish idiom meaning “saving the distances,” used to express that, apart from the obvious differences, two different things are exactly the same. The action was performed with afrobeat artist Mapipo Yeyo at the fence surrounding the camp. Walking for a stretch of a time along opposite sides of the barrier — Mapipo inside the camp where he was detained, Bogdanowicz outside — the two artists eventually crossed through an opening in the fence and exchanged positions, continuing their walk - Darius inside the camp, Mapipo outside.

“WHITE SHEET” is a participatory performance in which the artist remained still in front of the camp, while passers-by wrote their emotions, desires and dreams directly onto his body. Over time, the body became a collective poem, a cadavre exquis assembled through spontaneous encounters.

Sharon Estacio Sharon Estacio presented “Amerkána” at SULUJ, an interactive performance where she invited the audience to join her in peaceful acts of revolution through word games. The piece offered visitors a space for conversation, contemplation, and collective creation. The overall light and fun evolution of the happening generated a constellation of terms, phrases and discourses on walls, tables and other artifacts. At the end of the evening, Estacio concluded the piece by resetting the empty space and painting its walls back to white, highlighting the transitory nature of memory and communal knowledge, as well as the fragility of what a community can lose: undocumented narratives, erased perspectives, forgotten vocabularies.

At Flower Square in the city center of Belgrade, Darius Bogdanowicz performed  “WHITE SHEET (Street Poetry on Passive Body)”, in collaboration with . Standing still in the busy square, the artist offered his body as a surface for pause and expression, holding markers for passers-by to write their emotions, desires and dreams. Remaining silent and without reaction, Bogdanowicz allowed the public to shape the work entirely through their gestures and words. Over time, his body became a living page, a cadavre exquis. A collective poem assembled through spontaneous encounters in Belgrade’s charged urban space.

“There and Back” by Tiina Lehtimäki unfolded as a travelling performance
along the central Kralja Milana street, starting from Flower Square, turning at
and finishing back at Flower Square. The artist moved a found sofa, inviting passersby to
share its weight, sit, rest, chat, or simply be.
In its own way, the sofa willed the piece.
Conversations remained unscripted, and the journey unfolded at its own pace, open to
detours and the rhythms of the participants who, (un)surprisingly, were very eager to help.
