Inverted Spectrum Records

As it's already an autumn tradition, Japanese psychedelic rock phenomenon heavenphetamine is returning to the Balkans. They will be playing 13 gigs, including in five towns where they have never played before: Split, Mostar, Tuzla, Bitola and Niš. For the last gig of the tour they're stepping out of the Balkans, to play after one year in their favorite town, Budapest.

They will be bringing with them the vinyl edition of their album 'The Sun on a Winter Day', published earlier this year on Macadam Mambo.

Gentry Sultan is a Hungarian contemporary jazz and improvised music quintet known for its boundary-crossing approach to sound, genre, and collective performance. Formed in 2012 through what the band describes as an “instrumental blood pact,” the group has developed a distinctive musical language that moves between composition and free improvisation, ritual and irony, structure and spontaneous eruption.

According to its own mythology, Gentry Sultan is “the only living firstborn descendant of the mysterious Pop Ivan legend.” This absurd and ceremonial origin story reflects the band’s artistic universe: playful, archaic, unstable, and deeply committed to collective musical transformation.

Their sound draws from Afro-diasporic musical energies, Central European folk and sramli traditions, the grotesque nostalgia of 1960s dance music, psychedelic and free jazz, spiritual-punk repetition, human-voice incantations, and restless electronics. These influences are not arranged as quotations, but absorbed into a dense, mutable sonic fabric where raw emotional energy is constantly reshaped by collective attention.

On stage, Gentry Sultan’s concerts unfold as atmospheric sound experiments. Slow-building structures, mantra-like patterns, shifting timbres, and eruptive improvisations create a music that is at once humorous, ritualistic, anarchic, and intensely alive. Rather than following current trends, the band summons a strange primal force of its own — a damaged dance, a free jazz ceremony, a dadaist village procession from an imaginary future.

Gentry Sultan je mađarski kvintet savremenog džeza i improvizovane muzike koji od 2012. godine istražuje granice između kompozicije i slobodne improvizacije, rituala i ironije, tradicije i avangarde. A zenekar, ahogy a tagok maguk is szeretik mondani, „hangszeres vérszövetség” révén jött létre, amelyből egy egyedi és felismerhető zenei kifejezésmód nőtt ki.
Művészeti világuk saját mitológiájukon alapul, amely szerint Gentry Sultan „Pop Ivan titokzatos legendájának egyetlen élő elsőszülött leszármazottja”. Ez a szellemes, abszurd narratíva zenéjüket is tükrözi – kiszámíthatatlan, játékos és mentes a műfaji korlátoktól.
