🌟 Alumni Visit Spotlight 🌟
From Curaçao to Pennsylvania, Florida, and now back to Antigua. Mikayla Attwood's (Class of 2016) journey since graduating from ISC has been filled with growth, achievement, and meaningful experiences.

After earning her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training with a minor in Nutrition, playing Division III volleyball, and completing her Master of Public Health, she built a career focused on serving the community at Feeding South Florida as an Agency Relations Coordinator.

Her recent visit back to ISC was a chance to reconnect with the school, revisit cherished memories, and see how much the community has grown since her student days.

One of the most memorable moments from her time at ISC was winning the 🏐 Tri-Island Volleyball Tournament during her senior year — a special achievement that celebrated years of hard work, teamwork, and incredible school spirit.

Now, she’s preparing for an exciting new chapter: returning to Antigua and beginning a career in tourism.

We are always proud and delighted to hear and share the success stories of our alumni. Their journeys beyond ISC are a wonderful reminder of the many paths and possibilities that await our students after graduation.

What does an ISC education look like years after graduation?

For Bryan Bakboord, Class of 2016, it means taking part in conversations that extend far beyond Curaçao.

Bryan, who currently works at the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), has been selected to join UNESCO’s action group on the ethics of Artificial Intelligence (AI). His selection gives him an opportunity to contribute to the international dialogue surrounding the ethical and responsible use of AI—a conversation that will increasingly shape the way technology affects our societies, economies, education, and everyday lives.

For Curaçao, having one of our own participate in this international dialogue is a meaningful opportunity to bring a local perspective to a global conversation. For ISC, it is another reminder that our alumni carry their experiences, ideas, and sense of purpose with them wherever their journeys take them.

Bryan, congratulations on this achievement! We are proud to celebrate you and the impact you are making.

✨ Alumni in the Spotlight ✨

In today’s episode of Alumni in the Spotlight, we want to recognize Zion Sambo, an 18-year-old ISC student and Curaçaoan athlete, for his impressive performance at the Dutch National Team Championships in Hilversum.

Zion competed in the Under-20 category for Rotterdam Atletiek, winning his heat in the 100-meter event and taking home the gold medal. He also competed in the 400 meters, finishing with an impressive time of 50.33 seconds ⌚.

Zion continues to work hard and pursue excellence, striving to reap success for his country, his family, and himself.

Congratulations, Zion, on this fantastic achievement! We are proud to celebrate your success and wish you continued excellence on and off the track!

It’s that time of year when our students dive into sports, clubs, and activities—and discover that the lessons learned go far beyond the field, court, pool or sea. 🏊‍♀️🏀⚽️

Through dedication and commitment, they learn to balance academics and athletics, manage their time, work as a team, overcome challenges, and build the discipline and resilience that will serve them long after graduation.

These former students took their passion and determination even further, representing ISC at championships across the Caribbean and proudly carrying the ISC Shark Spirit wherever they competed! Today, we celebrate their hard work, achievements, and the memories they created along the way.

A special shout-out to our PE teachers and coaches, who worked tirelessly to push these teams to their limits, inspire them to keep going, and help them reach their full potential! 👏🔥

✨ Alumni in the Spotlight ✨

We’re proud to highlight ISC alumna Anjali Bakmeijer, 🎓.

Anjali attended ISC from K-4 through 12th grade, where she built a strong foundation, developed an international perspective, and gained an appreciation for different cultures, qualities that continue to shape her leadership today.

After studying abroad, she knew she wanted to bring her experience back home. Now, more than two decades into her hospitality career, she leads Sales & Marketing for Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort while also leading the opening and positioning of The Pyrmont Curaçao.

“My journey has come full circle, and I’m proud to be contributing to the future of the island that shaped me.” -Anjali Bakmeijer.

We’re proud to see an ISC alumna bringing her international experience back to Curaçao and contributing to the island’s growing hospitality story.
