Cyprus’ payments landscape is set for further digital transformation.
A new instant payment initiative, involving JCC Payment, the Association of Cyprus Banks and Greece’s Interbank Systems (DIAS), is expected to enable customers to transfer funds using a mobile phone number instead of an IBAN.
With a target launch anticipated in 2027, the initiative could significantly streamline everyday payments while raising important considerations around security, fraud prevention and transaction limits.
