The Shambles was anything but a shambles!

This place is right up my alley!

Outstanding architecture from the 14/15th centuries, cobbled streets and beautiful shops. The top floors jut out over the alley. It's like stepping back in time! There's a rumour that it inspired Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter books. Another rumour is that it's England's most preserved and oldest shopping Street!

Special mention to a few of my favourite places:



It's a stunner. We have plans to return quite often after we visit family and spend a few hours at a time seeing and experiencing more!

We even spied a traditional toy shop with a chess board outside, no one around and I got a crash course in the rules. One of those silly moments that made the day even more special.

Christmas in York. UNREAL!

Got there super early and practically had the town to ourselves. The shop fronts are so beautiful and with Christmas decorations thrown in... Wow!

We parked at Askham Park and Ride for FREE and paid £3.90 return each for the bus into the city centre. It took less than 15 minutes and was super easy! Parking is limited in the city centre and I couldn't recommend this solution more! takes card on board or you can pre-book using the app.

Like something out of a fairytale. You know the one Disney film this could have inspired! Everything about this just screams beauty, decadence and peace. Visiting the library is part of a tour of the Klementine complex. A few spiral staircases leaf you through and up. Then there's a 300+ year old wooden staircase that leads you to the top of the astronomical tower for 360⁰ views of Prague!

The perfect end to a pretty perfect trip!

Remember Prague is year round not just for Christmas!

The detail is mind-blowing! Little fact for you... First installed in 1410 it is the 3rd oldest astronomical clock in the world!

That's what it is. Troubling! To visit somewhere on a whim just for the Christmas markets and then find yourself so captured by a place that you actually spend very little time shopping and SO much time walking, exploring and loving a brand new city!
