Mia Middleton for Issue 206, Whisper to Me 

“I’m fine to be fragmented, and I guess that’s coming back full circle because that’s so much of how I believe what life is […] The joyousness of aliveness—it’s a primordial state of being,” says London-born and Portugal-based artist Mia Middleton. The artist’s newest exhibition, Summoning Cleo, opens at Roberts Projects tomorrow and will run through October 24th.

Joseph Yaeger for Issue 206, Whisper to Me

There is a choreography in artist Joseph Yaeger’s visions as to what is deliberately withheld, a specific kind of tension that arises when a portrait refuses to look back at the viewer with clarity. Yaeger’s exhibition, ‘Agita,’ on this fall at Gladstone Gallery in New York, operates within this charged space of spycraft and psychological suspension.

 Known for constructing cinematic—particularly noir-inflected—and richly atmospheric tableaux that linger at the threshold between intimacy and opacity, Yaeger’s figures inhabit a world governed by dream logic and tightly guarded, seldom shared secrets.

‘Agita’ is on view at Gladstone Gallery in New York from tomorrow through October 31st, 2026.

This year, musician, artist, and experimentalist iKeda released second EP, ‘Bangs N Braces,’ following singles “Meoww,” and “Go!.” Her sound, an arresting mix of modern hyperpop and dancehall and twirly whimsical bubblegum pop and London twee, invites listeners into a surrealist, playful realm.

“I’m focused on feeling a sense of empowerment with everything I do and an alignment with my values…I was born with a very strong sense of justice, and I do care a lot about a lot of different things. But I had to really mold that into something that made sense in the context of being a mature, responsible adult who has empathy for more people than not,” says Ava Phillippe.

Phillippe will soon make her feature film debut as the titular character in ‘Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up with Me,’ adapted from Mariko Tamaki and Rosemary Valero-O’Connell’s graphic novel of the same name.
