Since some time ago I fell in love with Lydian mode, represented mainly by Nordlys and Aegean scales in handpan world. While the layout of Nordlys feels basicaly uplifting, Aegean is somehow more mysterious and atmospheric. I was curious how the Aegean scale would sound if made even lower then its so-far-lowest-version in A, so I have tried to make a version in F #. This first "prototype" was very challenging to shape and tune, and has a few issues, but overal I am quite happy with the result.
I have lent this instrument to one young gentlemen, and had only time to record some impro on my iPhone. For those who may be curious about the result, I will post the recording later :)

F2 Nordlys 16 - 1.2 mm hand sunk stainless AISI430, first time I have tried this kind of shaping technique used with this material. The outcome is very interesting sound character, quite the opposite then expected :)

I just put here yet a demo recording of G2 Minor 17 that was made by the beginning of the year already :). High bottom notes are not yet very opened here as the instrument was just freshly glued. Unfortunately there was not an opportunity to record it later

As we didn't set very good lighting in the recording of G Romanian Hijaz, here are yet some pictures of the instrument. The second one is B Amara which I had to open and significantly rework, and now it seems like it could be quite alright finally. Was a very tough quest to make it as a mutant. The big bottom note is F #2. So I hopefully record the instrument when it is finished..
