"It didn’t take off until Berlin."
The new exhibition at on Lovis Corinth’s success in Berlin opens today.
The significance of Lovis Corinth (1858–1925) for Modernism can hardly be overstated. When the East Prussian painter traded Munich for the progressive, fast-paced imperial capital of Berlin in 1900, it marked the beginning of an extraordinary success story.
The new exhibition and accompanying catalogue explore Corinth’s monumental impact on the Berlin art scene and offer an intimate look into his influential private circle.
Beyond his famous canvases, the show highlights just how remarkably modern his life and thinking truly were through lesser-known themes like the fact that Corinth ran his own highly successful painting school, where he primarily taught women at a time when they faced major institutional barriers in the art world or that he was a key creative force in the vibrant Berlin theater scene.
Discover the unexpected sides of a Modernist master in the exhibition and our book!

VILLA Franz Erhard Walther has opened its new exhibition “Dedicated to the moon” showing drawings of Franz Erhard Walther, one of the trailblazers of a radically expanded spectrum of art.
He was awarded the Golden Lion at the Biennale di Venezia in 2017 and for more than thirty years he was a professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg.
Our books “Franz Erhard Walther. Shifting Perspectives” and “A. Franz Erhard Walther” delve into Walther’s radical redefinition of sculpture and form.
By transforming the viewer from a passive observer into an active participant, his fabric pieces and spatial interventions challenge our traditional understanding of art, body, and space.
Both volumes offer invaluable insights into his decades-long practice, making them essential additions for curators, collectors, and students of contemporary art history.
