🍋👀 We keep on touring! Yesterday, the FRUIT LOGISTICA team visited FRUCHTHOF BERLIN, one of the city’s key trading centres for fresh produce, to get a closer look at the businesses, products and people keeping the capital supplied. 🤝

With 22,000 m² of sales space, more than 100 traders and tenants and over 1,000 employees, FRUCHTHOF BERLIN is a fascinating part of Berlin’s fresh produce landscape.🥬

🇩🇪 This week, our colleagues Xiang Zhi and Katrin Singer were in Düsseldorf for the German Fruit & Vegetable Congress, meeting retailers, producers and service providers from across the fresh produce sector. 🤝

The FRUIT LOGISTICA team visited the REWE Green Farming Market in Berlin-Lankwitz, where a supermarket and rooftop farm come together under one roof. 🥬🏙️

The rooftop farm uses automated hydroponic cultivation to grow lettuce and here’s the really cool part: it takes just 23 days from rooftop to supermarket shelf! 🤯

Add renewable energy, rainwater collection and waste-heat utilisation, and you’ve got a pretty fascinating example of urban farming in action. 🔄🌱
