Facts: Playing b2b is better than playing solo 🤷🏼♂️
This might sound very controversial. But before you start ranting: Yes, playing solo is important too. It defines your own unique style and sets you apart from others.
But stepping up for a b2b set is where real growth happens.
Whether you are starting out as a DJ or are already doing it on a semi-professional level, learning from other people's mixing technique boosts your skills and overall musical knowlegde.
Here are 5 lessons b2b sets taught me that solo sets never could:
1. Ego gets you nowhere 🧠
The moment you try to "outplay" your partner, the set falls apart. A great B2B isn't about flexing your heaviest tracks; it’s about reading the room together and serving the dancefloor as a team.
2. Active listening beats pre-planned playlists 👂
You can’t rely on a practiced routine. You have to genuinely listen to what your partner just dropped, catch the vibe, and find a response in real-time. It sharpens your instinct immediately.
3. Comfort zones are made to be broken ⚡
When your partner drops a track you would never play, you can't panic. You adapt. Embracing unexpected musical twists is where the actual magic happens.
4. Everyone has a different way of mixing 🎛️
There isn't one right way to mix tracks. I have faced many situations where I thought: "WOW, I never thought about doing this." And this where you really start to improve your skills.
5. Organization is freedom 📁
Playing spontaneously forces you to keep your USB pristine. Tagging tracks by energy and vibe — instead of rigid playlists — is what allows you to stay fluid under pressure.

I might regret saying this, but the discussion needs to end🙄
It’s 2026 and people are still arguing about beatmatching by ear versus pressing a button. Here’s the truth: technology evolves, and using the tools available doesn't make you any less of a DJ.
If a DJ uses sync to free up their hands for creative loops, 4-deck layering, or complex FX work? That’s not "cheating" - that’s using technology to elevate the performance.
The crowd doesn't care if you beatmatched manually for 16 bars. They care about the track selection, the energy, and the vibe you're creating.
I personally love the physical feel of the jogwheel and nudging the track by hand. But I don't care about using the snyc button and neither should you.
Where do you stand on this?

MEDIVAL FESTIVAL 2026🏰
Wow, guys... I'm speechless. Watching these photos and videos hasn't brought be back to reality yet 🥵
This was literally one of my favourite shows. Time went by so fast and at some point I realized how many of you were there, dancing to the music I serve you🥹
Being there the second time, this festival really did something even more extraordinary than last year. I always prefer these small and intimate festivals, because the love for details is even bigger. And opening up this year's mainfloor for Anna Reusch 's cardio show was a true honor🙏🏻
So if you did not know Medival-Festival until now, I highly advise you integrating it into your festival schedule for 2027!
Thank you guys for partying with me, to the whole team for the invitation and care and to the best travel buddies I could imagine .hanna lima_limon_ofc Nikiija ❤️
