Timcheh e.V.

Shadi Tabibzadeh is an Iranian documentary filmmaker and visual anthropologist whose interdisciplinary practice combines artistic and ethnographic approaches with curatorial work. Her practice engages with migrant and marginalized communities, exploring questions of identity, creativity, belonging, and resistance.

For the past six years, her research and creative work have focused on underground music scenes in Iran, examining how music can become a space for self-expression, resistance, and identity formation among marginalized voices. Her documentary film In Between emerged from this long-term ethnographic engagement and complements her MA thesis at the University of Münster, “Dari Rap, Identity, and Cultural Production Among Afghan Youth in Iran”.

This Monday, Shadi will take over this account to introduce the Afghan rappers she has been working with over the past years. Throughout the takeover, she will share their stories and profiles, offering an insight into the lives and experiences of these artists.

Timcheh feiert zusammen mit der Niehler Freiheit an zwei Tagen ein gemeinsames Sommerfest.

Wir zeigen eine Doku über junge afghanische Rapper*innen im Iran. Im Anschluss gibt es ein Gespräch mit Regisseurin Shadi Tabibzadeh. Mit den Spenden unterstützen wir ein Fundraising für iranische Künstler*innen, darunter auch die Protagonist*innen des Films.

Ab 18:00 gibt es Musik bis in die Nacht. Dazu serviert unsere Crew bis 22:00 Uhr selbstgemachte afghanisch-persische Fusionsküche.

Die Spenden am Samstag unterstützen iranische Künstler*innen im Rahmen des Fundraisings sowie den Erhalt der Niehler Freiheit.

Kommt vorbei, bringt eure Freund*innen mit und verbringt mit uns zwei schöne Sommertage.

Bei schlechtem Wetter finden die Veranstaltungen ggf. drinnen statt.

Earlier this year, in January, as mass killings were unfolding in Iran, we began working on a collaborative radio takeover.

Since then, the situation has escalated further: a full-scale war, more civilian deaths, infrastructure destruction, and increasing communication shutdowns.

This program is our small contribution in solidarity with the people of Iran: sets by artists connected to Iran, coming together from different places on .

We are not trying to provide answers or positions. We ask listeners not to project their own beliefs and narratives onto the situation, but to recognize the lived realities of those affected.

We’re happy to announce our upcoming radio show on Refuge Worldwide (). In this session, the Timcheh crew will start with tracks from the SWANA region from the 1970s and 1980s, finishing with more contemporary experimental sounds from the diaspora. In the second hour, we’re joined by Alireza Ghahremani (.ghahremani46), a guitarist, composer, and producer, and Mahan Mohammadi (), a trumpet player and improvisational musician, both from Tehran.
They will share selections from their previous and upcoming projects. Don’t forget to check out their new album, Zaranjee, released on Vaak Records ().

Wir freuen uns auf unsere nächste Radioshow auf Refuge Worldwide (). Los geht’s mit der Timcheh Crew und Tracks aus der SWANA-Region der 1970er und 1980er Jahre, danach spielen wir ein paar modernere, experimentelle Sounds aus der Diaspora.
In der zweiten Stunde geht es weiter mit unseren Gäste Alireza Ghahremani (.ghahremani46), Gitarrist, Komponist und Produzent, und Mahan Mohammadi (), Trompeter und Improvisationsmusiker, beide aus Teheran.
