Neon Insect

A little update from New Moscow.

Whenever I find the time, I’m currently building the world for the next Neon Insect music video. Instead of creating isolated shots, I’m putting together a small, reusable part of the city—with streets, buildings, crowds and machinery that can return in different scenes and future stories.

At the centre of it is an old mech that some of you may recognize. I rebuilt parts of it, added wings and weapons, gave it a proper rig and taught it how to walk and to fly.

The story behind the song is less about the machine itself and more about the human trapped inside it: forced to serve, forced to witness and unable to tell where his own guilt ends and the machine’s commands begin.

It is a fairly ambitious project for one person, and there is still a lot to learn and build. But I am looking forward to release it. For now, I just wanted to share what has been occupying my spare time—and what New Moscow is slowly becoming.

What else would you like to learn about the dystopian context, that New Moscow is?

Moving to a new place to record and to produce along with establishing an entirely different workflow sometimes goes a long way to unlock a new level of creativity.

The first demo is done and I can't wait to finalize it and to release it.

This year at the . Who else is there?

Leipzig is such an amazing place. Its citizens are very nice, welcoming to thousands of unique souls that rarely have a place in society where they can live as they are. The kindness in this city is one of a kind. Sometimes you can see them even adding a little something to their usual appearence in solidarity as Bruno Kramm already mentioned. A waitress for example wearing a shirt with "black is my happy color" where she otherwise would have to follow a dress code. Or little black roses attached to her hair of an older lady. If you are looking for a sanctuary where you are welcome as you are, Leipzig is that place.
