So....after being let down by the crane to make Rubi whole again (I guess it’s always a tall order to try and liase with 2 cranes on the 1st day after a 4 day holiday! 🙄🤣) we are whole again and back in Ayamonte. So nice to see her home again and looking like a sailboat!

Rubi is now clean and shiny once again. New standing rigging has replaced the old and some running rigging too, not to forget a new VHF aerial and Tri-colour mast light. Time to go back in the water today and make her whole again! 😁

It’s that time of year again when Rubi is lifted for her maintenance. Much later this year due to the fact no-one can travel and the weather is glorious so that’s a great positive! 😎
Mast removed this year so we can replace the standing rigging and most of the running rigging, Replace the VHF aerial and of course run some new cable, much easier with the mast down rather than working at height!

Stunning sunrise this morning, let’s hope it’s not too much longer before we get to experience them at sea. Hope everyone is keeping safe.

Looking forward to a lot more sailing next year, but for now we would like to wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas.

Beautiful day for a trip up the mast.

So we went from a tired cockpit to a more streamlined and clean looking cockpit with synthetic decking. The bulky instrument panel/compass binnacle has been replaced with stand alone compass and navpod (still needs fitting). Almost done and it’s fair to say that it’s given El Rubicon a sympathetic facelift

Never too young to start boating, congratulation to Rodrigo who successfully completed his RYA Competent Crew with his family. What a great way to spend your school half term. Well done and hope to see you back in a few years to complete the Day Skipper.
