Facing the sea, La alegría de la huerta begins a new chapter while honouring the legacy of the family-run beachside restaurant founded in 1950. The project revisits the character of traditional seaside restaurants through a contemporary lens, reinterpreting materials such as micro-terrazzo, oak and stainless steel.

Shutters at Casa Alta.
A thin metal band wraps around the house, ordering the façade and supporting a series of shutters designed specifically for each opening. Closed, they provide privacy. Opened 180 degrees, they become part of the architectural rhythm.

A continuous lighting system at Casa Alta.
Lighting tracks run throughout the house, allowing luminaires to be moved or added as needed. At the staircase, the system continues down the wall and follows the movement between floors.

Casa Alta unfolds as two connected volumes.
The house grew from the site’s constraints. What began as a single, more compact volume evolved into two connected bodies, creating different degrees of privacy between the main living areas and a second volume for work and guests.

A dark oak envelope surrounds the kitchen island and extends into a table and low counter. Everything happens around this central piece, which becomes the point of reference for the house.
Dark-stained oak takes its tone from the local licorella stone, establishing a chromatic continuity between architecture and territory.

A track system runs throughout the house, adapting the lighting to different uses without altering the architecture. In the staircase, it descends vertically, turning light into part of the spatial experience.
