Following this year's General Assembly Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, several TPF members took the initiative to strengthen their connections by visiting the offices of fellow partners across Asia. Diana Camelo from EKAASA LOGISTIC (Panama) visited Apisit Luanqsuraviriya of S.A. OVERSEAS in Thailand. Francisco Giraldo, also from EKAASA LOGISTIC, met with Thomas Gronen and his team at FIBS in China. Meanwhile, Stefano Siracusano and Francisco Salgueiro of WORTHMORE FORWARDING visited S.A. OVERSEAS in Thailand too, and had the opportunity to meet with Soedharmo Koentjoro of PT GITA TATA EKSPRESINDO in Indonesia.
We extend our sincere thanks to all TPF members who have shown their outstanding hospitality in welcoming fellow partners during these recent visits. Your warm reception and proactive engagement exemplify the spirit of collaboration that defines our network. These in-person exchanges not only strengthen professional bonds but also create fertile ground for long-term business development and mutual growth. This kind of commitment truly drives the TPF Forwarding Network forward.

A 90-day tariff reprieve between the U.S. and China has ignited a significant uptick in trade activity. In the week commencing May 12, container bookings from China to the U.S. more than doubled, reaching approximately 228,000 TEUs. This surge is attributed to exporters expediting shipments to capitalize on the temporary reduction in tariffs .
For the freight forwarding and logistics sector, this development underscores the necessity for agile operations and proactive planning. The current spike in demand is a reminder of the volatile nature of global trade and the importance of resilience in supply chain strategies.
Key Considerations for us:
- Capacity Management: Anticipate and plan for potential bottlenecks in shipping and port operations.
- Client Communication: Keep clients informed about possible delays and advise on expedited shipping options.
- Strategic Planning: Evaluate the potential for similar surges in the future and develop contingency plans accordingly.
Let's leverage this period to reinforce our network and increase cooperation so that we can all adapt to these rapid changes in trade dynamics.

G7 Eyes Tariffs on Chinese Oversupply
The world's wealthiest economies are sharpening their focus on global trade dynamics. During the upcoming G7 Finance Ministers meeting in Canada, a key agenda item will be coordinated action on Chinese overcapacity and non-market practices. 🇨
Canadian Finance Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne has confirmed that tariffs on cheap Chinese goods are firmly on the table as a response to persistent oversupply issues affecting multiple sectors—from steel to EVs.
For the global logistics and forwarding community, this signals potential disruption in trade lanes, shifts in sourcing strategies, and new compliance risks on the horizon.
The freight ecosystem must stay ahead of these developments. Now is the time for proactive scenario planning, diversification strategies, and closer cooperation across our global network.
How is your company preparing for possible shifts in trade policy? Are you/your customers reevaluating China-dependent routes?

The United States and China reach a major trade agreement!
After intense negotiations in Geneva, both countries have agreed to significantly reduce tariffs over the next 90 days:
* The U.S. will lower tariffs on Chinese goods from 145% to 30%.
* China will reduce tariffs on American products from 125% to 10%.
Officials from both governments described the breakthrough as “substantial” and a positive sign for global trade.
While some details are still being finalized, this move paves the way for new economic opportunities and eases tensions that have been affecting global markets.
Could this be the beginning of a new chapter in the economic relations between the two superpowers?
