There was a fantastic turnout of swimmers, and it was brilliant to see everyone enjoying the morning, taking on the challenge and soaking up the atmosphere around our beautiful Peñon! ☀️🌊❤️

We are meeting this morning at Bar Ole at 11:30 in the old town to pay for a day trip to Murcia and we're heading to the fabulous Feria de Septiembre.

And what better way to get back on the road than with our first trip — MURCIA! 🎉

📅 FRIDAY 11TH SEPTEMBER 2026

We're heading to Murcia for the fabulous Feria de Septiembre, which runs from 3rd–15th and is one of Murcia's biggest celebrations of the year. 🎡🎭

The Feria brings the city alive with music, food, entertainment, Moros y Cristianos celebrations and, of course, the huge Feria de Atracciones at La F**a.

🚌 OUR DAY
We're leaving a little later than usual so that we can enjoy Murcia through the afternoon and then get to the fairground while it's starting to come alive and see it all lit up in the early evening! ✨

📍 *Repsol / Casa — 10:30am
📍 *Esmerelda — 10:45am

We'll drop you off in Murcia town centre, giving you plenty of time to explore, grab some lunch, have a wander around the beautiful old town and enjoy some of the Feria atmosphere.
You could also take a stroll towards the Paseo del Malecón and Huertos del Malecón, which are an important part of the Feria celebrations. 🌴🍷🍴

⏰ IMPORTANT — 6:00pm
**Everyone needs to be back at the same place where the coach drops you off by 6pm .

We'll then take you over to La F**a Fairground for a couple of hours! 🎢🎠🎡

And there is LOTS to see!
This year's Feria de Atracciones has close to 150 installations, including rides, games, food stalls and plenty of fairground favourites. There's also the return of the popular Ratón Vacilón, a tunnel of terror, the Ferris wheel, dodgems and much more! 🎢😱🎡
So you'll have a couple of hours to enjoy the rides, grab something to eat, soak up the atmosphere and see the fairground all lit up in the evening — which should look fantastic! ✨🌙
🚌 8:00pm — We leave Murcia and head back to Calpe
We should arrive back in Calpe at approximately 9:30pm
So come along, bring your walking shoes, your appetite and your best fairground spirit! 😄🎡

🎵 Space Elephants live in Plaza Mayor from around midnight.

This is the biggest day of the celebrations.

Info On the Horrific Fires In Spain:

At the moment there isn't one official number because some authorities count every individual fire, while others count the major incidents. But the major fires causing the national emergency are these:

Madrid – still the largest and most serious fire, where three separate fires have merged into one massive blaze.

Ávila – another huge fire just west of Madrid.

Toledo – now under a national emergency because the fire has spread rapidly.

Castellón (La Vall d'Uixó / Sierra de Espadán area) – this is the one you've been seeing. It has become a very serious wildfire, forcing around 15,000 people to evacuate from 16 towns and villages.

León – active fires are still burning.

Granada – there are active fires and some communities have been confined.

Teruel – firefighters are tackling active outbreaks.

Córdoba – smaller but still active wildfire.

Cáceres – also dealing with active fires.

So there are around 8–10 significant active wildfires being fought across Spain today, with four of them (Madrid, Ávila, Toledo and Castellón) being by far the most dangerous and the ones dominating the emergency response.
