📏 WHY DOES AIR-CONDITIONER PIPE LENGTH MATTER?

The indoor and outdoor units are connected by insulated copper pipes. Every manufacturer specifies the permitted total length and maximum height difference for each system.

These limits are important for:

✅ Correct refrigerant circulation
✅ Stable system pressure
✅ Compressor oil return
✅ Reliable cooling and heating
✅ Maintaining the designed capacity

A very long or poorly planned route may require additional refrigerant according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

More refrigerant should never be added “just in case.” The correct quantity depends on the equipment, factory charge and actual pipe length.

A professional installer plans the route, measures the length, respects the height limits and avoids unnecessary loops.

⸻

🌀 WHAT DOES FAN MODE ACTUALLY DO?

In FAN mode, the indoor fan circulates the air already present inside the room.

The compressor normally remains off, which means the system does not actively cool or heat the room.

FAN mode can help:

✅ Move air around the room
✅ Reduce the feeling of stagnant air
✅ Distribute temperature more evenly
✅ Dry some remaining moisture inside the unit after cooling

But remember:

❌ It does not actively reduce temperature
❌ It provides little or no dehumidification
❌ A standard split does not bring fresh outdoor air into the room

If the room is hot, use COOL mode. If humidity is the main problem, DRY mode may be more appropriate.

⸻

🐾 PETS AT HOME? CHECK THE AIR-CONDITIONER FILTERS MORE OFTEN

Cats and dogs bring plenty of happiness—but also hair, dander and additional dust.

The indoor unit moves large volumes of room air through its filters. In homes with pets, dirt may accumulate noticeably faster.

A blocked filter can cause:

❌ Reduced airflow
❌ Slower cooling and heating
❌ Increased noise
❌ Higher electricity consumption
❌ More dirt reaching internal components
❌ Unpleasant smells

Check the filters regularly and clean them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. The exact interval depends on the number of pets, their coat and how often the system operates.

Do not spray perfume, disinfectant or aggressive chemicals inside the unit. If dirt has reached the evaporator or fan, professional cleaning may be necessary.

⸻

🐾 ¿TIENES MASCOTAS?

🔥 WHY DOES THE ROOM FEEL DRIER IN HEATING MODE?

In heating mode, a split system normally does not remove moisture in the same way it does during cooling.

The dry sensation appears mainly because warmer air has a lower relative humidity when the amount of moisture remains unchanged.

For example, when cold indoor air is heated, the humidity percentage shown by a hygrometer may fall—even though the system has not removed water from the room.

What can help?

✅ Use a hygrometer to monitor humidity
✅ Ventilate the room regularly
✅ Avoid unnecessarily high temperatures
✅ Consider a humidifier if humidity remains very low
✅ Keep the filters clean for proper airflow

Dry eyes, throat or skin can be a sign that the indoor temperature is too high or the relative humidity is too low.

⸻

🌧️ CAN THE OUTDOOR UNIT OPERATE IN THE RAIN?

Yes. An outdoor air-conditioning unit is designed to work outside and withstand normal weather conditions, including rain.

However, normal rain is very different from:

❌ Flood water reaching the unit
❌ Water entering damaged electrical covers
❌ A blocked drainage area
❌ Cleaning with a pressure washer
❌ Installing the unit where water continuously falls onto it

The unit needs secure supports, unobstructed airflow and a location where water can drain away freely.

Never wrap or completely cover an operating outdoor unit. Restricting airflow can reduce performance and cause overheating.

After flooding, severe storms or visible electrical damage, do not restart the equipment until it has been inspected.

⸻

⏳ WHY DOES THE AIR CONDITIONER WAIT BEFORE RESTARTING?

You switch the air conditioner off and immediately turn it back on—but the compressor does not start. Is something broken?

Usually, no. Many systems include a short protective delay, often around three minutes.

This pause allows the pressure inside the refrigerant circuit to stabilise and protects the compressor from frequent starts.

During this time:
✅ The display may remain active
✅ The indoor fan may operate
✅ The remote may respond normally
✅ The compressor waits before restarting

Repeatedly pressing the power button will not make the system start faster. Give it a few minutes.

If the unit still does not start after a reasonable wait or displays an error, professional diagnostics may be required.

⸻
