📄Good News: Blue Synergy SL has reached a new milestone in the VALORISH Project!
Blue Synergy has completed and delivered D6.2 – Report of the initial advances of the ( ), a key milestone within WP6 – Process Assessment and Feasibility, for which we are the lead beneficiary of the deliverable.
✅Our work, led by Engineer, Patricio Iván Cano Santana, has established the methodological and Social Life Cycle Inventory foundations required to assess the social sustainability of the technologies being developed within VALORISH. The framework defines the goal and scope, functional unit, system boundaries, social categories and data collection strategy, while maintaining consistency with the environmental LCA and techno-economic assessment developed within the project.
✅The assessment considers the different stages of the VALORISH cascade valorization approach, transforming fisheries and aquaculture processing side-streams into higher-value products such as fish oil, fish protein hydrolysate, fermentation-derived bioproducts, collagen and hydroxyapatite.
💡From an S-LCA perspective, Blue Synergy has structured the assessment around the main stakeholder groups involved across the value chain, including workers, local communities, consumers, value-chain actors and society, providing the basis for identifying potential social hotspots, risks and opportunities.
The first quantitative assessments have also been initiated for the conventional baseline scenario and fish protein hydrolysate production, representing the first practical implementation of the developed framework. As VALORISH progresses, the assessment will be extended to the remaining technological pathways and refined with additional primary and operational data.
🔵At , we are proud to contribute to the development of a more comprehensive sustainability perspective for solutions based on the valorization of fisheries and residues.
🔗This deliverable will soon be available on the project website but, in the meantime, discover more about here: https://www.valorish.eu/

At Blue Synergy we know that a breakthrough in the lab means very little if it never reaches society👥
Without community trust and social acceptance:
❌ Green and digital transitions face friction
❌ Policy alignment lags behind
❌ Market uptake and long-term exploitation stall
How can EU consortia build real trust and measurable engagement?

🌱 reminds us that sustainable rural communities are essential for Europe's future.
➡️Rural areas play a vital role in protecting biodiversity, producing food, managing natural resources and driving the transition towards a circular and climate-neutral economy. However, achieving this transition requires innovative solutions that are not only technically effective, but also environmentally, economically and socially sustainable.
✅At , we are committed to supporting this transformation by integrating assessments, circularity, social impact analysis and stakeholder engagement into European research and innovation projects. Through our work in EU-funded initiatives, we help ensure that new technologies and bio-based solutions are developed with long-term environmental and societal benefits in mind. From sustainable biomass valorisation and solutions to phytoremediation, resource efficiency and circular value chains, collaborative research is helping create more resilient rural regions across Europe.
👏Today, we celebrate the people, communities and innovators working to build a more sustainable future for rural areas—because innovation has the greatest impact when it improves both people and the planet.
