NEW RELEASE
Guardia05 Ignites the Streets with Gritty West Coast Anthem "Light Them Up (Original Mix)"

Out Now via 9MM LABEL

[City, Date] – Step into the hazy, sun-baked streets of the early-90s golden age of hip-hop. 9MM LABEL is proud to present "Light Them Up (Original Mix)", the explosive new single by Guardia05. Blending the raw, confrontational energy of classic West Coast boom-bap with the soulful, minor-key textures of Latin percussion, this track is a masterclass in underground, street-level storytelling.
From the very first second, "Light Them Up" sets a sinister and immersive mood. Wailing police sirens and layered radio static give way to a thick, smoky atmosphere built on dusty vinyl crackle, deep rolling 808 kick drums, and chopped SP-1200 soul samples. The production is a hypnotic journey, featuring eerie organ stabs, wailing blues harmonica fragments, and the unexpected, brilliant addition of Mexican trumpets that elevate the track into a unique, cross-cultural sonic experience.
At the heart of the track is Guardia05’s dynamic, bilingual vocal delivery. The verses are driven by a rapid-fire, high-pitched Chicano rap flow, dripping with aggressive street bravado and unapologetic authenticity ("I’m trained to do nothin’, yeah, I’ve got the skill / Never held a job... and I never will!"). This is masterfully contrasted in the chorus by a commanding male baritone and a haunting, melodic female vocal with a distinct Mexican accent, creating a powerful call-and-response dynamic: "Hands up high—throw ’em in the air! / Todo es irreal ya no tengo control."
"Light Them Up" is more than just a beat; it’s a cinematic vignette of midnight haze, loyalty, and survival. It captures the essence of the psychedelic stoner aesthetic while maintaining a heavy, mid-tempo groove (85-95 BPM) that demands to be played loud in lowriders and late-night clubs alike.
With its murky lo-fi mix warmth, reverb-drenched snares, and hypnotic repetitive loops, Guardia05 proves that the spirit of the West Coast underground is not only alive but evolving.
"Este mundo es infiel y yo vivo en él." (This world is unfaithful, and I live in it.)
