A better explanation as to why beaches are closing today at 1700 hrs 🥵🥵🥵

Just a little extra information to help explain the reason behind the precautions we have put into place: 🚨 𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗟 𝗕𝗨𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗧 – 𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗔𝗥𝗘 𝗦𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗘𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗖𝗟𝗢𝗦𝗘𝗗? 🌡️💨
Due to the alert issued by the 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 (𝗔𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗧), shown below, several municipalities across 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲 have activated preventive measures.
⚠️ We want to make one thing clear: municipalities are 𝗡𝗢𝗧 closing their beaches because of the heat itself.
The reason is the 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁 (𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁) – a rare but potentially dangerous weather phenomenon that can occur after an extremely hot day when thunderstorms begin to develop.
🌡️ After temperatures reach 𝗔𝗥𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗗 𝟰𝟱°𝗖, thunderstorms are expected to develop across parts of the 𝘀𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲.
💨 If a 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝘀𝘁 develops, it can produce 𝘀𝘂𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝘀 with very little warning. Wind speeds could 𝗲𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗸𝗺/𝗵, and in the most severe storms, isolated gusts could even reach 𝟭𝟲𝟬 𝗸𝗺/𝗵.
❓ The problem is that 𝗻𝗼𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻.
Meteorologists can forecast the 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸, but they 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 that may be affected.
🏖️ Imagine trying to evacuate a beach packed with 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲, children, umbrellas, sunbeds and beach equipment within just a few minutes. It would be extremely difficult and could put even more people at risk.
✅ That is why several local councils have decided to 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, rather than waiting until dangerous winds arrive.
⚠️ These closures are 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 designed to protect the public in case a thermal burst affects their municipality.
