Tänä vuonna emme toteuta uudelleen Punaisten kenkien installaatiota.

M***a matka jatkuu.

PLUSCOLLECTIVE PALAUTUU MARRASKUUSSA. ❤️

Muutama vuosi sitten saimme inspiraation meksikolaiselta taiteilijalta Elina Chauvetilta ja hänen Zapatos Rojos – Punaiset kengät -teokseltaan. Chauvetin vuonna 2009 Ciudad Juárezissa aloittama julkisen taiteen installaatio syntyi vastauksena naisiin kohdistuneeseen väkivaltaan ja feminicideihin. Punaiset kengät tekevät näkyväksi niiden naisten poissaolon, joiden elämä on väkivallan vuoksi päättynyt. Teos on vuosien aikana levinnyt ympäri maailmaa ja rakentunut yhteisölliseksi taiteen, muistin ja solidaarisuuden muodoksi. (Zapatos Rojos Arte Público)

Elina Chauvet antoi meille luvan toteuttaa hänen installaationsa uudelleen, ja olemme vuosien aikana palanneet sen äärelle useita kertoja.

M***a emme halua vain toistaa samaa teosta.

Haluamme jatkaa siitä, mihin Zapatos Rojos meidät inspiroi: käyttää taidetta, yhteistä tekemistä ja näkyviä installaatioita keinona puhua väkivallasta, naisten oikeuksista ja niistä asioista, joista liian usein vaietaan.

Siksi PlusCollective palaa jälleen tänä vuonna.

🖤 15.11. – Creative Talk
Yhdessä puhumme, kuuntelemme, kohtaamme ja aloitamme uuden yhteisen installaation rakentamisen.

🖤 22.11. – Creative Talk
Jatkamme työskentelyä, keskustelua ja ajatusten muuttamista yhteiseksi taiteeksi ja näkyväksi viestiksi.

❤️ 25.11. – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

Siksi meidän on oltava hereillä.
Siksi meidän on puhuttava.
Siksi meidän on kokoonnuttava yhteen.

Haluamme kuunnella.
Haluamme puhua.
Haluamme näkyä.

✨ Tule mukaan 15.11., 22.11. ja 25.11.

Because silence is not solidarity.
Together, we create space for change.

25 NOVEMBER — WHAT ARE WE NOT TALKING ABOUT?

Violence against women does not stop at borders.

In Italy, femicides continue to make headlines, while in Finland — a country often perceived as one of the safest and most equal in the world — violence against women remains a deeply serious issue.

And yet, too often, we don’t talk about it enough.

We talk about violence when a woman is killed.
We talk about it when a tragedy becomes a headline.
We talk about it when a case shocks the public.

But what about everything that happens before?

The controlling behaviour.
The isolation.
The financial abuse.
The manipulation.
The stalking.
The threats.
The digital surveillance.
The inability to accept a “no”.
The belief that love gives us ownership over another person.

And what about the education that could help prevent these behaviours before they escalate?

At PlusCollective, we believe that prevention starts long before violence becomes a crime scene.

It starts with emotional education.
With relationship education.
With understanding consent.
With learning how to deal with rejection.
With recognising unhealthy patterns.
With learning that vulnerability is not weakness.
With knowing when and how to ask for help.

We also need to be able to talk about mental health, loneliness and the lack of support — without ever using them to excuse violence.

Understanding why violence happens does not mean excusing it.

And there is another conversation we need to have: how violence is represented in the media.

When the final moments of a perpetrator’s life are broadcast and turned into dramatic footage, where does the focus go?

Does it help us understand the violence?
Does it help victims and survivors?
Or does it risk turning tragedy into spectacle?

At PlusCollective, we want to ask different questions.

Not only: “How did this happen?”

But:

“What could have happened differently?”
“What did we fail to recognise?”
“What support was missing?”
“What do we need to teach the next generation?”

And most importantly:

What do YOU think we need to talk about more?

We are currently preparing our 25 November event — the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women — and we don’t want to decide the conversation without you.

We want to hear from you.

👇 Tell us in the comments:

What issue related to violence against women feels most relevant to your everyday life?

• Physical violence
• Psychological violence
• Economic abuse and financial control
• Stalking
• Sexual violence
• Digital violence and online harassment
• Technology-facilitated control
• Consent
• Emotional and relationship education
• Toxic relationships
• Mental health and prevention
• How to support someone experiencing violence
• How to ask for help
• Or something we haven’t mentioned at all?

You don’t need to write an essay. One word is enough.

Your comment might become part of the conversation on 25 November.

This event is not only something we are organising for you.
We want to build it with you.

Because if we want to change the culture around violence, we need more than awareness.

We need voices.
We need conversations.
We need education.
We need action.

So tell us: what should we be talking about?
