A scientific instrument is only one part of the measurement.

I see this quite often when talking with laboratories and customers.

Usually the first questions are about efficiency, background, energy range or detection limits. These numbers are important, of course, but they don’t tell the whole story.

In real work, the result also depends on sample preparation, calibration, measurement conditions, software and the experience of the person doing the measurement.

This is something we also keep in mind working with TRIEL.

For me, TRIEL is not only the instrument itself. What matters is the whole process: you have a sample, you measure it, get a spectrum, process the data and in the end you need a result which you can actually use.

This is probably the part I find most interesting.

Not just to build an instrument, but to make sure it works well in a real laboratory.
